Juaneka Key, Pregnant Mom, Charged with Inciting Riot at Chuck E. Cheese
You know Chuck E. Cheese as home to bad pizza, fabulous kids' games, and a rockin' mechanical stuffed animal band that's reminiscent of U2 in its early years, before they went commercial. But now it appears to have become riot central...
It all began at one Chuck E. Cheese in Memphis, the Detroit of the South. Juaneka Key, 18 and pregnant, was there to celebrate her 2-year-old's birthday. She was at the photo booth with some younger relatives when a woman in line began to complain about how long they were taking.
"My sister and little brother were taking pictures, the girl said, 'Dang how long ya'll gonna be?'" Key told WREG-TV.![]()
Terrence Dickerson, said by scientists to only be 4% man, got the whole thing rolling by punching a woman in the face
Displeased with the tone of the questioning, Key's stepdad Terrence Dickerson decided to intervene by punching the woman in the face.
So began a full-scale brawl as relatives from both sides joined in, while panicked children and parents fled the restaurant. Key and another family member reportedly kicked the complaining woman while she hid under a table. Even people unrelated to the two families joined in this festive brawl.
"Other people [began] jumping in that didn't have nothing to do with the fight," says Key.
When it was all over, Key, her mom, and her sister, boyfriend and stepdad were arrested. They resumed their family get-together at the Memphis jail.
Key and Dickerson face charges of disorderly conduct and inciting a riot. Steven Henderson, 21, and Juanita Hopkins, 37, were charged with disorderly conduct and possession of weed. It seems they couldn't stop threatening people even as cops were trying to break up the brawl.
