Gloria Chicas' two dogs had somehow managed to escape from her Silver Spring, Maryland yard. They both had tags with Chicas' contact info. 21-year-old Najie Walker found them, but he wasn't about to give them back unless he got paid...

Scrappy, left, was returned unharmed. But Scooby was killed by a car after Walker couldn't control him and let the dog loose.
He called Chicas to say he had the dogs, but wanted a reward for their return. They set up a meet at a TGI Friday's. Walker didn't show. That's when Chicas called the cops.

Walker apparently couldn't control Scooby, a 4-year-old golden retriever. So he let the dog loose. It was subsequently killed after being hit by a car. So police set up a sting.

Walker kept calling Chicas to say he still had Scrappy, a year-old poodle. But he wanted $300 for the dog's return.

So with police aid, Chicas agreed to meet him at a McDonald's. When Walker arrived, he saw the cops and bolted. Police found him next door in a bathroom stall at Friendly's. Scrappy was discovered unharmed in his car.

Walker has been charged with theft.
