Nikia Adams, New Orleans Cop, Arrested for Starving Her Dogs

• Sorry, that doesn't fly BJ. These dogs should have been treated for the heartworms and whipworms, and the fact that they hadn't gone to a VETERINARIAN who would have diagnosed these conditions (whipworms are easy to cure and heartworms aren't THAT expensive to treat) is a sign of abuse and neglect in itself. In addition, these dogs should have been on preventatives that would have kept this from occuring. This isn't defendable, so don't even try.

• This is my family and people do not understand the circumstances of the situation. Please do not let this "STORY" make my family seem as a bad person. The dog had heartworms and was willowing away. They have vet reports of the dog being extremly sick from his disease not my family starving them. the storys are bits and pieces of the situation put together to make an attractive headline because she is a police officer.

• She was too busy shoving her face full of donuts and never thought about feeding her dogs.

• Ryan, I definitely agree about the animal abuse registry. This is getting ridiculous, all these ignorant people who abuse their animals! I don't want them around my pets, ever.

• As the proud mother of two white boxers and the kennel assistant at a no kill SPCA shelter that picture makes me mad. And I hate seeing yet another DUMB ASS ALLOWED to own pets! The cruel thing's people do to there pet's never ceases to amaze and sicken me. From puppies with rubber bands tied around their mouth so they couldnt bark, to flea infestation's and starvation like depicted here. Sometimes the laws are'nt strict enouph. It sucks that in some 'suspected' cases of starvation the Animal Control Officers can't arrest or confiscate the animals without certain alighnments of evidence regaurdless of visible starvation. Alot of laws need to change She should be prosicuted lika any other and maybe starved a couple days out on a chain dumb bitch!

• either that or she figured Animal Control would be as worthless as the New Orleans PD and just keep their mouths shut. Hmmm maybe the Animal cops in New Orleans should be doing the real cops work too, I guarentee they'd do a better job!

• How can she be that dumb and be a cop?!?!? Obviously, she didn't think she was doing anything wrong or she wouldn't have called the animal shelter. How could she think that dog in the picture looks normal? I have never seen a dog that skinny still alive. This woman is amazingly stupid.

• Whats even more moronic is that she called the Animal Shelter to come and help get rid of the dead dog so that indicates to me she's about as DUMB as they get! Did she think they wouldn't notice how thin the dogs were? Too Dumb to feed them too Dumb to know that starving a dog kills them and that people from the Animal Shelter would care!

• It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that no food=death. Too many stupid people are being allowed to have animals and it just sickens me. I have a daughter, husband, 3 dogs, and 2 cats. I make sure ALL are taken care of before me. If you can't take care of your animals, give them to someone who can. What an idiot!

• Amazing..that someone so obviously of low intelligence that they cant even care for a beautiful dog gets to become a police woman. makes me shudder to think that someone of this nature is meant to serve and protect society. DISGUSTING. animal cruelty makes me see red. leave me in a room with this skanky vile peice of humanity and she wouldn't be walking back out.:)

• I don't know if I would want my tax dollars being spent to keep this piece of trash in prison for 10 years or even pay her salary as a cop. I'd say fire her from the police force (actually a complete overhaul of the New Orleans PD would be a good idea) but whenever someone commits an animal cruelty crime, set up an animal cruelty registry just like we have for sex offenders so everyone in the community knows and can look out for these kind of people in their areas.

• I don't understand people. Why get a dog if you won't take care of it? Why get a dog then chain it to a tree or fence in the backyard, neglecting it? Its not like you didn't know it needed to be fed daily when you got it! (Oh snap, I didn't know this dog required food!) Did she think it was going to feed itself? If she didn't want it anymore, why not take it to a shelter? That has to be better than letting it starve slowly to death! I love animals but one of the MAIN reasons I don't have a dog or cat is because I don't want to have to take care of it. So I don't get any. How hard is that to understand? I really think that when a person is found to be in possession of a severely neglected animal should be brought up on premeditated murder charges. You HAVE to know that not feeding something will directly result in its death. And the MINIMUM sentence should be 10 years.

• This woman should be fired from her job, since someone who doesn't obey the laws is certainly in no position to enforce them!

• This is very sad. Boxers are generally very lean dogs, but this poor dog has been starved beyond belief and heartworms to top it off? Dogs have about a 50% chance of surviving heartworms and the treatment is very expensive. I feel so bad for this pup and any other animal that gets similar treatment. I love my pets too much to let them take any abuse. Well sometimes I verbally abuse one of my dogs because he isn't the smartest dog I've ever seen, but it doesn't seem to bother him much!

• Look at the surviving dog's flank. Nikia Adams must be made responsible for her crimes.

• I love how whenever Pete writes about one of these assholes, their name shows up as hit number on truecrimereport on a google search. I consider that pretty good justice in and of itself.
