Reader Charles responds to A Mom's Tale of When Her Daughter was Stalked by a Hooters Creep. His bet is that bars and restaurants that sexually exploit their staffs leave their employees much more open to stalkers...

"I have said time and again that hooter's (in these cases) and owner's of strip clubs, etc., share some responsibility for creating a dangerous environment.

"I agree that it doesn't take skimpy clothing, or lack of clothing to create a stalking situation, but it surely doesn't help. I suspect that if you look at industries that exploit womens' sexuality versus industries that do not, you would find that more stalking situations were created from the employee/client interactions of the industries that exploit women.

"Finally, as I have mentioned before, often times, almost all the time, the women are really girls, far too young and inexperienced to understand that they are being exploited by these businesses. When the crazy man gets his gun, who do you think is in his sights? the owner of the club? of course not.

"how about the aftermath? will the owner of the club show up for the funeral? probably, he doesn't want the other girls to see him for what he really is. he will schedule interviews for the girl who will take the dead girls place around the funeral and runs to the bank to deposit money."
