Michael and Teven Collins were on a father-son camping trip in Dugan Falls, Washington when they decided to steal a car to get back home. Needless to say, this wasn't the wholesome family outing often witnessed on the Gilmore Girls...

That's when they came across Robert Tracey, who was cross-country skiing in the area. According to 17-year-old Teven Collins' testimony on court yesterday (pictured above), they attacked Tracey, took his car keys, beat him with a stick, then tied a rope around his neck and dragged him into the woods.

They continued to beat and choke him there. "I closed my eyes when I swung it," Teven testified. "I'm pretty sure I connected. I'm not sure where."

But the kid was growing a conscience. He told dad Michael they'd beat Tracey enough. But dad wanted to kill Tracey and told Teven he needed to "earn his bones." How one exactly earns his bones by killing a defenseless cross-country skier, we're not sure. But we are sure Michael Collins never earned his bones as a father.

They left Tracey in the woods for dead, but he survived the attack.

The Collins duo took his car and credit cards and drove to Mexico, where they were eventually caught and brought back to Washington. Teven agreed to plead guilty and receive an 8-year sentence in exchange for ratting out his father. Other relatives also testified against Michael.

He called no witnesses in his defense, though his scumbag lawyer tried to imply that Tracey was smoking pot at the time of the attack.

Since this isn't a very good rationale for nearly beating and choking someone to death, a jury swiftly convicted Michael in the attack. He could face more than 25 years in the slam.
