• Well if one believes in Karma and thinks the burglar's wife died because of his sins then perhaps this gesture will bring some better times back. He did after all repent and the victim did forgive. We need more good people in the world. Even if they used to be thieves.

• Mysticism doesn't have to be some far flung set of illogical tales that hegemonically (yeah, I just invented a word) tell people to do something. The world really does work, at it's most fundamental level, in a karmic way. You want to be wealthy? Well the only way to gain that wealth and keep it is by being generous now with all you have to offer. It's all a complex chain of kickbacks. To not understand this simple fact is to never be happy. Something this common criminal could realize.

• I'm not proud of him. He only returned it because he thought karma or God was punishing him. Regretting something because of the repercussions of punishment is the morality of a 5 year old.

You can see right in the picture that the quote of the apology letter isn't even verbatim, as you can see the words "house in your back...", so maybe Pete gave us an abridged version. Regardless, a wife is a pretty strong implication that the author is a male.

• I'm with ya'll and better late than never. At least this woman was kind enouph to accept that this person obviously suffered alot of regret. Seems he did'nt steal the jewelry for profit since he still had it I was suprised. At least she is kind enouph to accept the offering of apology.

It's a slippery-slope, though, reform in the U.S. In order to truly reform prisoners, we'd most definitely have to raise taxes high enough to hire on psychiatrists, counselors, teachers, etc. I know prisons have those, now, but they're at a minimum. On the other hand, do I want to pay higher taxes to help murderers and pedophiles, not really. If only more people believed in Karma, maybe situations like this would become more frequent until one day, the crime itself is committed at a much lower rate.
