You really stepped in that one. Not only is there 'The Judge' (of which I have one, and it's loaded with some .410 shells right now), but there are several other manufacturers that sell handguns that shoot .45long colt, and .410 shells.

I have a Thompson Center Encore which can shoot both (without switching barrels).

I also believe that "The Judge" is Taurus' best selling firearm. Not only do I have one, but my father has one.
And on a technical mailing local mailing list, it was highly recommended for home defense.

The vast majority of women in abusive relationships, especially early on in the relationship, will actually throw themselves in front of the abuser to protect him if he is caught and retaliated against by a third patty. I live in rural Nevada. I carry my pistol every day. The cartridge in the chamber right now is what we call a "snake load." It's actually just a 10mm Auto cartridge loaded with bird shot. You can buy them in various calibers for semi-auto or revolver.

I want to know from when did this douche bag started seeing this teen ?? What kind of guy would like to date a girl who is younger by 11 years?? She is still a kid .. and there is no true love in this age ..it is all physical attraction and mental destruction. The daughter could be lying. She might have been beaten, but think that she can control him or that this is the best thing she is ever going to get.

We don't know, if her boyfriend beat her. I think however there should be an escalation of force. If some one is being beaten, if it is not life threatening like a punch on the shoulder, maybe a verbal warning is in order. If that doesn't work maybe you get physical. All though given relative strength that may be ill advised. You could threaten calling police & tell them you are taping it with a cell phone (should help convict them). If it justified why not shoot him in the lower leg or arm. If you shoot a warning shoot or wing them & they come after you, go ahead, put them down for good. Now he has to watch his back. You won't always get the drop on somebody. It is better to be good.

I like your comment about developing a girl's (boys too) sense of self worth. It is right on target.

In Iraq they have an escalation of force policy. First, they give hand signals. Second, they shoot a flare diagonally across the path of the vehicle. Third, they try to place a .50 cal round in the engine block. If all else fails they light them up. I am not saying this is the exact procedure or was always used, but you get the ideal.

So, even if the boyfriend was beating the daughter, does the father have to shoot him in the balls? What about a warning shot? If he does not desist, you could shoot him then. We don't expect or want police to go full auto. We expect them to use mace or something else first. We expect spike strips before calling "Blue Thunder". Personally, in a few cases I think Blue Thunder scenario would be appropriate. It would cause some perps to rethink. I mean are you going to out run a copter?

This boyfriend could have beaten her & may eventually appear on these pages again. If you video cam it, then it is a slam dunk that he gets arrested, prosecuted and convicted. Then the second time he goes away for a long stretch and is listed as a woman beater. Of course I would not film ad naseum.. At some point call 911 & shoot him yourself.

The escalation of force that we used in Iraq is much the same as we are using here in Afghanistan. It goes something like this.

SHOUT!!!!! STOP or something to that effect. An expletive may be used after we notice the vehicle barreling towards us. Most of the time after making said observation it is WTF? then STOP!!!!!

SHOW - Visual display of what you intend the offender to do usually showing them your weapon and chambering a round will stop an innocent person in their tracks.

SHOOTING A WARNING SHOT - Not always used. My ammo is valuable to me. Shooting a warning shot into the vehicles engine is much more effective. We all carry M16 rifles, M4 carbines, or M9 pistols. If you are carrying a 50 cal you are one bad ass mo fo.

SHOOT TO KILL - Sorry i'm not giving any dirt bag terrorist a chance to get out of his vehicle with an RPG, AK47 or anything that can do me or my soldiers harm much less detonate the possible IED that he is carrying in that Vehicle.

When a dirt-bag 29 year old preys on an 18 year old girl there is a problem. There are probably going to be many issues that arise from that relationship. Abuse being one of those probable issues. Young females often have attachment issues and when they are in love or more often than not when they think they are in love those issues are worse. The reaction of the daughter seems quite normal. The abuser did not seem to be and unless it was close range most likely wouldn't be seriously injured. Then again I could be wrong. Perception is a MFer.
