Albert Bailey, Dumbest Bank Robber Ever, Calls Ahead to Place His Heist Order

Albert Bailey forgot the first rule of bank robbery: Tellers only give you money because there's an immediate threat to their safety. Remove that threat by, say, calling ahead to place your robbery order, and it just doesn't work so well...

But apparently Bailey was thinking outside the box when he and a 16-year-old accomplice tried to rob the People's United Bank in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Ten minutes before their heist, they called the bank to order that cash be placed in a bag on the floor. They were apparently practicing a new brand of time-management in the armed heist field, and didn't want to burn efficiency by needless waving a gun around. So they threatened a "bloodbath" if they were not promptly served.

The bank, quite naturally, called police, as would anyone forewarned of a robbery. Ten minutes later, the 16-year-old walked in, grabbed the cash, and returned to the car with Bailey at the wheel.

Unfortunately, their pre-order also gave police ample time to show up. Just as one cop was about to arrest the kid, the dye pack exploded, further spoiling their genius caper. The two morons were arrested in the bank's parking lot.

Both were charged with felony robbery and threatening. But Bailey was immediately sent back to prison. Seems he was already on probation for robbing a People's Bank in Bridgeport in 2003. Hopefully, he'll get some job training in the joint to learn a trade for which he's better suited.
