Edward Myer, Valerie Hayes and a Bumbling Revenge Beatdown of Her Ex

• Hope that flight attendant goes to jail along with her stupid married friends with benefits. I was married to a Delta Airline Captain who had a long affair with a crazy really old flight attendant. This crazy old FA stalked myself, my daughter and son doing crazy things to my home,place of work and car. When she called my daughters cell phone we finally figured it out. My whole life and my children's lives were decimated. My stupid ex husband played stupid until crazy old FA started to try to physically harm my 15 yr old daughter. If it was up to me, I would have her arrested for scaring us. My children no longer talk to their father and probably never will again. This 'because they can' is a poor excuse for normal people to make. You have to a sociopath to work for the airlines and agree with this kind of activity.

• Does anyone have an update to this story? Did the pilot and ex-wife get charged with a felony? Did they lose their jobs? Did the pilot's wife divorce him?

• I worked at hotel where flight crews stayed we say never marry a flight attendant they cheat period. I never met a pilot or straight male flight attendant that ever got tired of bragging about all the women from work they had.I really had a lot of fun hanging with the party girl flight attendants and I knew never to fall in love with one,NOT ALL FLIGHT ATTENDANTS ARE MINGLING, yet with all the talk galley gossip and pilots bragging everyone's sex life is known more often than not. I hope this baseball coach partied like a rock star so wasting 17 years married to this air mattress wont bother him so much.

• WOW! What a bunch of idiots, if you ask me. You are trying to not get caught and you pull a stunt like that? Why are people willing to risk everything and most importantly...ruin your kids lives with your selfish behavior? The "victim" you point out was a control freak and not holding up his end of the divorce agreement. She shouldn't have brought the other man into her children's lives' in any way, shape, or form. All of them have set a terrible example for their children and pretty much ruined their lives. (p.s. Not all airline employees are "mingling"...the whole world is in on it as we have just seen with Tiger and Jesse James and on and on and on. It is the nature of the beast!)

• Actually, the kids live with their father just as much as they do with their mother...they have a very involved father who was trying to do the right thing because he was sick of seeing his ex-wife bringing a married man to the kids sporting events, etc. Too bad some adults can't take responsibility for their actions and have to beat up others...

• You people are totally clueless! First of all WE do not know all of the details. Anyone that has any Journalistic knowledge knows that the media can, and will sway, readers for any and all reasons. Next, Valerie's ex-husband was stupid to threaten the boy-friend of his ex! Come on, he waited so long to do so! Why now! He wasn't thinking. Of course any of us would want to pass the hurt on to the other party.That is hard to admitt, but it is true. He wanted her/him to hurt as he had. Now there is another point that I need to make clear! The news if filled with murders, robbers, sexual molesters ect..... Please, tell me how many articules do you see the employer of the offender unless it has something to do with the story? The fact that Valerie is a Flight Attendant, and her bo is a Pilot for USAIRWAYS has nothing to do with the actions of each! So why is it present in the article? It just pisses me off that the media takes hold of the thoughts of people and many do not realize that they have been taken into slavery. Valerie has 4 children that are now probably wards of the system. What about them? Affairs happen every day, in every industry. Maybe someone reading this will think twice about stepping out, and realize that it is not just you that can be affected, it is YOUR ENTIRETY!

• Also, in Arizona assault/Domestic Violence does not need the victim to 'file charges.' It's the State vs. the accused not the victim vs. the accused. I'm not sure that's different for this type of assault. The State already has plenty of evidence and would not need, for example, the testimony of the coach if it were to go to trial. The coach, ex-wife, and pilot have already given the state everything they need to win conviction. There is no way that I can see that the pilot could plead not guilty and then defend himself as if it were self-defense. And it seems pretty clear cut that he can't claim that he didn't do it either. The pilots in deep doo-doo at this point, and I'm betting he's really, really regretting what he did at this point. Because he's going to pay for it for a long, long time.

• Well who knows who, if anyone, has the upper moral ground here. According to hogwash, the coach cheated during their marriage. Then she starts cheating (maybe in that order). I read elsewhere that the attendant and the pilot have been doing it for 4-5 years and it was pretty well known at their airline. Then the coach files for divorce based on her infidelity. It's pretty clear, for sure, that the pilot is a complete ass wipe. It seems pretty clear the flight attendant was as well. And, it's very possible the coach was just as much of a jerk in his own way. Hogwash also stated that the coach _did_ inform the pilots wife way back when; I read that elsewhere as well. The pilot dismissed it as unfounded rumor which his wife appears to have accepted. So this 'threat' sounds like it would have been something the pilots wife already sorta knew about. Initially, I was pretty sympathetic towards the coach. Now, I'm not so certain that he's any better than the other two morons. That doesn't mean I think the assault was warranted; in fact I don't. And, for sure, the assault is going to have pretty severe consequences.

He may have been losing more than he thought, as the end was coming. He also may have said things out of anger (I know *I* did, when I found out my ex was cheating. And no, I'm not a "scorned middle-aged overweight housewife :-) In any case, beating someone, is NEVER an appropriate response in this situation. Especially when YOUR actions cause the rift to begin with.

• BaconBully is wrong!! Cheating happens all over the world...to single out Airline Pilots and Flight Attendants is petty to say the least. Furthermore, the actions of ALL these people, yes I do mean the baseball volunteer too, are irrepressible. He is not as innocent as everyone might think! Might I add, that this baseball volunteer had not paid child support and spousal support for well over a year! The Flight Attendant with meager wages and four children, was under undue financial hardship caused by this volunteer....No one likes to be threatened and volunteer should have minded his own business!! By the way....Volunteer had already told Wife several years ago about the affair. She chose to stay for whatever reason. Also, Volunteers Business took him all over the world and was known to have had several affairs over the course of their lengthy marriage. No one is right here! To blame certain individuals limits the validity of this very sad story....FYI!!

• If I caught my husband cheating I would NOT hesitate to tell the husband of the other woman. I would'nt threaten it I would DO it. They deserve to know too. Toying with people saying, "I am gonna tell." Is just childish.

• bacon, i'm not letting the woman off easily... she placed herself in the spot she's in, and will get everything she deserves. yeah, she cheated on her husband, but she did have the decency to get a divorce. but, wait! her man that she was soooo in love with is still married two years later? yep, i'd say she got her just rewards. she left her marriage for this guy, and now he's not available. about the jilted husband not coming forward to the other guy's wife, he may have felt it wasn't his place to do so. many women have been told this is going on with their husband, yet they refuse to believe (or deny it for their own benefit of not working and being a single parent). Unfortunately for the other man's wife, her castle is probably crumbling at her feet right now, not to mention her self esteem is shot to hell and the kids life as they knew it is over. how selfish by the other man! i guess the two cheaters can learn to live their lives in poverty on a flight attendant's salary and a pizza delivery guys wages! you reap what you sow.

• I have zero sympathy for a guy that was integral to the break-up of my seventeen year marriage with four kids. The guy had to split assets in half, likely move, has limited access to his kids compared to before, and probably pays child support, alimony, and whatever else was agreed to in the split. And I couldn't be happier that this moron pilot is now likely facing a felony conviction that will cost him his job and, hopefully, his marriage as well. He's likely to be making peanuts compared to what he was earning before. And a little bonus time in prison would be good too. Ditto for the who_e on a flight attendant's salary being supported by the very man she threw away like yesterdays garbage to sleep with the husband of another woman. And you're worried about blackmail? How 'bout the guy simply tell the other cheated on spouse the truth that she rightly deserved. There is no way I'm going to defend the two scummiest people in this whole sordid affair.

• Somehow I missed the two years thing. But it seems to me that if Hayes was attempting to blackmail Myers the article would have stated that as its almost certain that Myers would have told the police what Hayes was trying to do after he was arrested for assault. Also, we don't know how the whole thing went down. Maybe Hayes only recently found out that the pilot was married. This little snippet from the article kinda makes me think that... "But Myer, as it turns out, has a wife and kids back in Salt Lake City, who were unaware that he was doing the bedroom dance with Valerie. So Andrew apparently threatened to tell Mrs. Myer that her husband was cheating with his former wife." Maybe Hayes feels strongly that the woman should know. I certainly would. Maybe he figured that this asshole shouldn't be allowed to have his cake and eat it too while his own marriage was torn apart by what said asshole did.

• Bacon is right, in that a LOT of "mingling" happens between flight attendants and pilots. I remember one, where they both were on a layover (he was married) and she tied him up. Then left the room. He missed his check in at the airport, and no one found him until they checked the room. Bwahahaha....he got in trouble at work AND at home. I also know someone who was sued (also an airline employee) ALONG with their company, by a spouse who found out about an affair. They didn't win, however. But it still isn't "blackmail." Maybe he waited two years, because that's when the divorce was becoming final. In any case, it was stupid of the pilot and the flight attendant. But we already knew they were stupid for cheating on their spouses and family.

• One other thing...If your married to a flight attendant..unless she's a saint, she's most likely cheating on you. My buddy thats a flight attendant said almost all the flight crews male and female, gay/straight have trysts while on layovers. It's the notorious job of folks who don't like to stay in one place, or with one person...JMO (I know I'm gonna piss somebody off with this but it's JUST my opinion)

• Yea if he was just going to tell the wife and expose the couple why the hell did he wait 2 YEARS!? Read the story AGAIN. The affair was made public between the trio 2 years prior. If this guy was just being a justice server he would have alerted the wife then. The fact that he waited 2 years and threatened this guy without actually following up is what points me to blackmail. You don't actually have to ask for something obtainable in order for it to be blackmail, that fact that he was using it as a threat to alter the decisions of two consenting adults who were not breaking the law is what makes it blackmail. I guess I apologize for stating the guy deserved the beating, a punch in the nose or just the flat would have been fair enough. Why is the pilot (aside from the assault) being picked on so much? Is he a scumbag? YES, BUT so is the woman. You guys seem to be letting her off quite easy compared to Meyers. I'll retract my previous statement about the gilted husbands beating being justified, but I'm still skeptical of the whole story. The timeline just doesn't add up to him being an innocent victim to me...JMO

• If you're not getting anything out of it, it's not really blackmail. If Hayes had said "Give me x amount of money or I'm telling your boyfriend's wife..." then that would be blackmail. Simply saying "I'm exposing your affair" really isn't extortion. It's just exposing an affair. I can't blame the slighted husband for that.

• I agree he should have called the wife anonymously. I don't think it was right to be severely beaten. I'm not sure to actually consider it blackmail, he may have said it to his wife because he felt hurt & betrayed. Many times people say things without thinking. His wife may have even over-reacted to his wording and made it sound like he was threatening to tell the pilots wife. I wonder how bad off he is from being severely beaten? His wife and the pilot deserve the charges against them and because of what they did they are now the ones who made it so the pilots wife knows so if they would have thought of the consequences for their planned scheme he would never have needed the pilot to severely beat him to keep him from telling the pilots wife because THEY LET HER KNOW ANYWAY through their bad revengefulness. I hope he wasn't so severely beaten he'll have brain damage or anything permanently damaged. He really didn't deserve to have been severely beaten.

• A case to be made that in today's society, where it is possible,people should be home every night. Over a 100 years ago someone noticed that the wives of traveling salesman in England had a higher rate of cervical cancer. But it is consensual between the salesman & whoever.. • If my wife cheated on me with a married man you can bet that I'd "threaten" to tell his wife too. I just wouldn't wait around to do it. Y'see...being cheated on sucks. It's very painful and humiliating. The guy's wife deserves to know she's married to a piece of shit. Also, it's a great way to get back and the dilhole that decided that it would be a good idea to get it on with your wife. And if the stars are smiling on you you might even hook up with the chick and you BOTH get some seriously sweet ass revenge. :D And on a side note, how could these dumbasses actually believe that physically assaulting this man would make him LESS likely to rat them out? I thought you had to be reasonably intelligent to fly planes...guess not.

• Eh, It says he "threatened" to tell his wife. By threatening the man, even without listing his demands, he was guilty of BLACKMAIL. If he wanted to tell the wife he should have just done it, anonymously even. But he didn't....he used the threat to try to get back at his ex-wife. As far as the story reads, the pilot may have taken an advantage with the guy bent over, BUT he didn't have a weapon or anything else. It was 1 on 1, man to man.
