That he did. In front of their three kids -- ages 3 to 10 -- he broke into Laura's home, ripped off her clothes, then chased her into the backyard. That's where he doused her with gasoline -- even pouring it down her throat -- and set her on fire.
The kids called 911, and they all managed to escape managed to escape to neighbor Ann Coulter's house (not the shrew of TV and literary fame).
"It was like you could just see the skin coming off her. It was horrible," Coulter told KFOR-TV. "It was just like you would roll down your sleeves is what her skin was doing. She was burned around her chest and up to her face."
Laura was taken to a hospital where she was treated for burns over 50 percent of her body.
Her husband tried to light a pile of clothes on fire to burn down the house, but it apparently caused little damage. He was found sitting in the front yard when police arrived. But he wasn't exactly a docile perp. Police say he kicked out the window of a cruiser on his way to jail.
Rodriguez has been charged with arson, burglary and destruction of police property. You can expect attempted murder charges to be added soon.
