UPDATE: Police caught Dan Moore after he apparently confessed to his mistress that he'd "accidentally" killed Kristen. But he never said how he killed her. He only complained that Kristen's family was stalking him. See update after the jump...

Kristen Charbonneau, a 25-year-old stripper, was last seen leaving the Baby Dolls strip joint in Fort Worth in August of 2005. She'd called a cab to take her home, but witnesses say a customer followed her out the door.

By the time the cab arrived, Kristen was gone. She hasn't been seen since.

Car salesman Dan Moore has long been a suspect in Kristen's slaying
All along her family suspected that car salesman Dan Moore was behind her abduction. He was a patron of the strip joint and knew Kristen well.

Now, more than four years later, he's finally been arrested for her murder. Police aren't saying what evidence links him to the crime, but Moore was arrested over the weekend, even though Kristen's body has never been found. Surprisingly, he was released on a paltry $35,000 bond.

This comes as good news to the Charbonneau family, especially father David. As the years went on, he'd often thought of killing Moore himself. "I would wake up every morning and every night looking at my shotgun; it would be the first thing there, and there were many times it would be loaded," he told CNN.

He also considered nailing Moore to a tree and torturing him until he told David where Kristen's body was buried.

"I know that sounds as sick as could be, and as a father and human being I never thought I could even think that way, but when something like this is taken from you, and you as a father ... you find out what you are really made of. I guess I was made of more than I thought I was."

UPDATE: Dan Moore was arrested five years after Kristen's disappearance when he allegedly confessed to his mistress.

Kristen's parents, Monica and David Charbonneau, have long believed Moore was the culprit. So they put up fliers and sent mailings to people near his home. They also set up a website accusing Moore of being her killer.

That nice bit if vigilantism appears to have paid off.

It seems Moore, a married father of two, was also keeping a mistress on the side. He'd known Carolyn Upton since high school, and they hooked up again after seeing each other at a high school reunion.

The relationship became intimate, and Moore began to pay her bills, first housing Upton and her two kids at a Budget Suites, then moving them to the vacant home of a relative.

But Moore complained to her that he was being stalked by the Charbonneau family. In one teary confession, he admitted to Upton that he accidentally killed Kristen. He didn't elaborate, and -- astonishingly -- his mistress didn't ask questions.

But she did tell her friend, Robyn England, who went to police. Upton later confirmed that Moore had confessed.

Police now had enough for a warrant. During a search of Moore's home, they found a bullet hole in the headboard of a bed and a large stain on the mattress that seemed to be blood. Unfortunately, detectives found no DNA to test. Police aren't saying what other evidence they have in the case.
