Bear the Pomeranian disappeared from Lydia Lurea's backyard two days before Christmas. So she plastered her Antelope, California neighborhood with fliers hoping to find him. But it seems the dog hadn't escaped on its own...

Bear was rescued when police showed up at a meet to pay the ransom
A man later called to say that he had Bear, implying that he'd kidnapped the dog, since he knew Lydia had others. His basic message: Pay me $1,500 or the dog gets whacked.

"He told me that if I didn't come up with more money he was going to kill my dog," Lydia told CBS13. "I told him, 'Please don't hurt my dog.'"

Lydia eventually agreed to pay the ransom, but it wouldn't be until last week that they finally set up a meet. They arranged to meet at a McDonald's outside Sacramento. Unfortunately for our bad guy, plainclothes sheriff's deputies also showed up.

34-year-old Manuel Perez was arrested at gunpoint. Bear and Lydia were happily reunited.
