Mom: Some People Have No Other Choice But to Work for Walmart

• I do not think one should judge a person specifically by where they work. I worked at Wal-Mart in the past as well. I am glad that she is standing up and working, instead of drawing welfare. BRAVO!! On the other hand, if this had happened where I live, I wouldn't shop at Wal-Mart any longer either. There was a woman abducted and murdered in another suburb around here from Target. Their surveillance watched it, and no one stopped it. I would never shop at that Target, but I shop at the one by my house. Plus if I saw this happening, I would have to jump in. just the way I am.

• Just for the record MooMoo...I wasn't defending Wal-Marts policies. I was purely commenting on the words that were chosen by others to describe the employees at Wal-Mart. Saying such a horrible thing about it happening to my children, well if you hope that happens, then you are no better or possibly even worse, than those that stood by and watched that poor woman.

• There ARE other corporate "whores" you could go work for, ones that care about the people IN the store buying stuff from them. I wasn't thinking anything bad about the employees b/c no, you can't judge people by where they work, BUT you can judge the store for being losers and letting a lady get robbed in their store and not doing a damn thing about it. The employees are usually nice, whenever I do decide to go into wal-fart, and its not them that make the rules. But I will never go to wal-fart again knowing that I am not safe inside of there, and besides, big corporations like this are whats killing small businesses and that, my friends, is lame.

• We absolutely have to be respectful of everyone who is working to make ends meet. Taking a job that may be less than desirable can involve a lot of emotions: Discouragement, embarrassment, self-defeat, but also perseverance, and determination. We shouldn't judge someone by their place of employement. Please have compassion for others as this recession has been extremely difficult for a lot of families and individuals.

• Nope, Y, it's not me. When I'm at work I use caps as they are meant to be used because it's a standard keyboard. At home I rarely capitalize because I have a lap top there. The only time I do random ALL CAP words is when I would prefer for them to be bold, or stressed, and there isn't a way I know of to do that in this forum. As for the topic at hand, I have no problems with people that work for a living, wherever that may be. However, I do not support Walmart or any of the large package stores that have taken away the mom/pop shops of the world.

• @MooMoo- Umm...people get robbed and raped everywhere. It is very sad. But what does WalMart have to do with this? Your statement wasn't very clear. Please advise.

• Just wanted to let you know not everyone thinks that employees of Wal-Mart are low-life's. I think the policy is crap, and I really hope that had I been in that store or had I been an employee of that store, I would have helped the lady. There is no way I could stand by and let that happen. And people get robbed and raped at all sorts of places - we don't blame bank tellers for bank robberies.

• I don't really get the Walhate here either. No Walmart employee has ever been rude to me. Sure, some cashiers might not be hopping at the register with unbridled excitement as a roll my cart of goods up to them but I have never been met with unfriendliness of any sort at a Walmart. Maybe I'm just lucky.

• Sure...that's a very good excuse. I want to see if you still feel the same way if one of your kids gets robbed or raped at walmart.
