• Pssssst Rambo u make me a little relieved that a) I don't live in WA and b) that u did'nt actually become a cop (just going by ur explanation) Because u seem to have the potential to be one of these sleezy cops bieng discussed now....just saying. I am not attacking you I guess this is coming out wrong but. What I gather from ur little paragraph u were bragging about beating a lie detector, so if Bacons theory was right and we had to elect you probably would'nt be getting my vote, not that u care, sharing it anyway.

• I applied to be a WA state trooper, I passed everything even the lie detector. I remember lying about something and still passed. I told myself that it is only a lie if I believe it's a lie. The only thing that kept me from being a cop was the fact I got charged with DUI but never convicted several years earlier. Otherwise I would be a WA state trooper.....oh the agony.

• @ Bacon u r scaring me cause I live in VA. Except a High School friend of mine is what we call a 'town cop' who I know for a fact smoked alot of pot cause I smoked it with him :). But he is also good at what he does, he is'nt a prick, mild mannered and calm, and because of his experiences a little more street wise you know, humbler and more down to earth even. But hell if you want proof of how cops are in my area in VA just go on youtube and type in the search box "I pulled over a cop" where a teenage punk actually PULLS OVER a police officer from my area. I promise you its not a set up I know the cop. Our country cops are more layed back I guess, but sometimes to much!!

• I think you're right, Bacon. This is one of those no-brain policies that knocks out stand-up guys -- of which we have a national shortage -- while guaranteeing troopers with limited life experience.

• Have a few friends that for some unknown reason went into law enforcement. One buddy is a stand up guy, well rounded, with a good head on his shoulders. He applied with the VA State Police to be a trooper. He passed everything with flying colors. Then came the lie detector test...His commanding officer was present and my buddy was straight forward and honest. They asked him if he'd ever done drugs...he replied that after high school, during college, he had experimented with marijuana with some friends, decided it wasn't for him, and stayed sober. I know he's telling the truth because we hunt together and I'm always toking and he doesn't mind, but never wants to hit it...His commanding officer told him and I quote "Sorry J, your response about the marijuana has excluded you from being a state trooper. You are welcome to try again when more time has passed (it was 3 yrs before he applied) say 5-8 years. We really prefer to hire troopers who have never even experimented with drugs." How would having somebody that knows what weed smells like, tastes like, and effects on the user be a bad thing for State Troopers???? Seems to me they sort through the normal everyday folks until they find these overzealous, self righteous, psychos who roam our streets getting their kicks from the power-trip we've allowed them. I say we need to start voting on cops just like we do Sherrif's...may take more time but well worth it. Either that or allow for open public comment on ANYONE applying for a position in Law Enforcement...shouldn't we as the people have the right to choose who will enforce the laws we're supposedly responsible for choosing?

• I live in Waco, Tx and something like what happened to Agreed happened to me... My cousin and I were driving home from a party when we got pulled over for not signaling(I've seen cops do this all time, but I guess they're allowed to not signal). The officer came to my window and asked me if I was smoking pot in the car. I was on probation at the time and was drug tested at every meeting, so I possibly couldn't have been smoking. He claimed to have smelt something funny and asked me and my cousin to step out of the car. We did so, and as I stepped out I rolled up my windows and locked the doors. He asked me why I did that I told him it was a force of habit. They frisked then my cousin(she was only 14 at that time) but there was no female officer present, so I told them not to touch her. The cop, with a smile on his face, told me to shut up and let him do his job. Then they fondled her. I was livid, i started to yell at the cop touching her and I was pushed down onto the pavement, face first. They then took my keys and without asking if they could search my car, proceeded to open up the car and tear it apart! They searched my car for an hour and half looking for drugs, but couldn't find anything. What a surprise! When it looked like he was done I asked if we could leave(my cousin was sitting on the curb drying now). He looked at me, smiled and said he had to run my license again. A k9 unit pulled up and they let dog get inside my car. That dog ripped up the seats and it took me a month to get that damn dog's fur out! Once those dumbass barney fife cops realized there was nothing in my car, they finally let us go. A total of two hours went by. I tried to make a call on my cell phone but the officer had confiscated the battery. I drove me and cousin home, I apologized to her several times and she never said a word, she just kept on crying. I filed a report on the officers the next day, but lack of evidence let them get off scott free!!! Turns out the officers dash cam didn't catch a thing(I guess he was smart enough to turn it off, bastard). My cousin was molested by that filthy cop and the law protected him and his partner. Funny story though, a few years after this I took my son to the park. While I was pushing him on the swing, I saw the officer who had pulled me over. He was at the park with his wife and their kid. Our eyes locked and he quickly looked away and tried to usher his family to another section of the park. I saw where they went and a few minutes later me and my son walked over there. The pig was sitting on a bench with his wife watching their son play. I walked over and introduced myself and began reminding him of what he did that night, which came as a shock to his wife. After I had said my piece, I bid them good-day, picked up my son and walked back to the car. A month or so later, I got a friend request from that cops now ex-wife on myspace. Turns out she wasn't okay with her husband touching a little girl. Now she owns the house that HE bought, she has custody of their kid and he has supervised visitations with said kid twice a month. Finally, I had gotten my revenge.

• Radio Host Mike Gallagher told a story of a cop wanting to go ape shit one one of his adopted sons. This I fear. Besides lewd conduct, a very small percentage of officers are adrenaline junkies. You can't drug test them for this, but it does affect their performance from time to time. I tell my kids to be polite officers. That way that road is never traveled. There are a few bad police officers out there.

• As a young adult you did not fight back. I would have done the same. As a much older adult I would sue. They could have got a female police officer. If they don't have one that would be a good reason to hire one. This is a bully attitude. Sometimes you don't have to be able to beat a bully up. Sometimes you just have to punch them in the nose (This works in some shark attacks). If you can't find or afford a lawyer, engage the ACLU. If one of the seven cops is a weekend warrior it would end that gig. They would lose two jobs. Bad people can be rolled. They did something wrong; they might be paranoid about it. They'll turn state's evidence.

• As in the saying, one bad apple spoils a bunch? hmm? I can see that in ALL states there are these cocky cops that abuse thier power and harrass rather than protect. (though not ALL cops). It is sad there are so many crooked ones though.
