Bedtime Reading from the Village Voice Empire: The antique dealer claims it was self-defense, that Robert Cain had threatened him. But Garfield's female employees weren't afraid of Cain, and they believe it was a planned execution.
Phoenix New Times has the story.
It was an antique deal gone bad!

With the tech like wearable computers, a person could tape a lunatic like this homeless bully. Then we'll know if it is justifiable or not.
The homeless guy is a bully and the public at large are cowards. The renters figure the landowner is most responsible so they won't back him up. The bully figures since the landowner has a lot to loose so he'll just push him around. What has he got to loose? This bully is heavy set. I'd like to know what they respective weight classes these guys were in. Like an chimps, guys can size each other up pretty quickly. Chimps go on patrol and wage war, And they count. when they out number the other side they kill and maim them. Yes guys are pretty good at sizing each other up. 5 million years of evolution and nothing has changed.
I wonder if this guy was homeless because he bullied people at work and lost his job?
If the renters (public) don't want to get involved, deflect the bully and enjoy. I'm not sorry if you are disturbed. What comes around goers around.
Maybe both these guys are squirelly, but I think I trust Garfield a few steps more.
Posted 03/12/2010 at 09:51:00 PMI think that Garfield was likely scared. There are some pretty freaky people out there on the streets.
That said, just buying a gun and having little or no idea how it works and not practicing with it is stupid. I've seen a lot of shops on the edges of Nashville where patrons have to be buzzed in. It's inconvienient but the only other solution would have been to hire an off duty cop as security. If a cop had shot this guy it would have cost a hell of a lot less.
As far as Mr Fish goes-it brings to mind "Shoot, shovel and shut up." And throw your gun in the East Verde river.
