Reynolds trial was to begin next Tuesday. But last week during a pre-trial hearing, Reynolds' lawyer indicated his willingness to plead guilty and a new court date was set for today. Reynolds, who was 17 at the time of the crime, admits to charges of breaking and entering, tampering with evidence, vandalism, grand theft, all felonies, and a second-degree misdemeanor charge of cruelty. His co-defendants- 18 year old Marcus Miller and 23 year old Stacie Mullins-are accused, along with Reynolds, of snatching a 3-month-old alpaca named Masterpiece, valued at $8,000, from a Browns Run Road farm and then beating it to death. Authorities said the animal was beaten, put in a truck and dumped in an abandoned barn. Miller is scheduled to stand trial November 9th. Mullins is charged with conspiracy but her trial has been postponed. Mullins and Reynolds also faced charges after a car crash this summer when he allegedly wrecked Mullins' vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Reynolds and Mullins were arrested in June by Butler County Sheriff's deputies. Today Reynolds also entered a guilty plea for his part in that accident. Reynolds faces up to 10 and a half years in prison when he is sentenced on October 22nd.

She feels extreme guilt over what is happening simply because stacie asked her to hang out back in january the night this all happened she thinks if she would've gone over there none of this would've happened its quite terrible because she cries a lot. I do wish them the best but hopefully this is a learning lesson for them. My baby girl had to change her cell phone number and everything simply because she attended a court case and told stacie she'd always love her and then people started harassing her saying they'd kill her dogs for being heartless. Stacie Mullins, 23, was booked into the Butler County Jail early Saturday after she was arrested with 17-year-old Nicholas Reynolds, a co-defendant in the theft and animal cruelty case, according to the Butler County Sheriff's Office. Reynolds fled from officers who tried to stop the car he was driving when it backed out of a Madison Twp. driveway around 5:30 a.m. and stopped in the middle of Ohio 122, said Lt. Mike Craft. Reynolds, who is being tried as an adult in the alpaca beating case, was charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence, failure to comply with a police order, resisting arrest, reckless operation, failure to control and driving under suspension. "Stacie told detectives they fled because the judge told them not to have any contact with each other," Craft said. Mullins is also charged with wrongful entrustment of a motor vehicle for allegedly permitting Reynolds to drive her car without a valid license and under the influence, according to Detective Rick Bucheit. During the pursuit, the Camaro driven by Reynolds reached speeds of 80 mph to 90 mph, according to deputies. Stop sticks were deployed on Trenton-Franklin Road, but Reynolds attempted to avoid the tire flattening spikes and hit a tree near Michael Road, according to deputies. Mullins and Reynolds and a third person in the car were uninjured. The third person was not charged. Mullins, of Madison Twp., was free on bond and awaiting trial in September for her part as an alleged accomplice in the fatal beating of a baby alpaca in Madison Twp. Mullins, Reynolds and Marcus Miller, 18, are accused in the theft and beating of a 3-month-old alpaca named Masterpiece. Authorities said the animal was beaten, put in a truck and dumped in an abandoned barn. Reynolds and Miller are scheduled to be back in court Tuesday to set trial dates in their cases. They tried saving masterpiece but the puncture had blood streaming out of it into its lungs and the alpaca started making a gurgling sound with blood coming out of its mouth. Could u sit there and watch an animal suffer like that? I'm sure you've all have had an animal put down its hard. They don't deserve a lot of the punishments being said. Yes for being on property and all the relevant true facts they should be punished. And another thing... look up the alpacas owners name and address. The woman claiming to love masterpiece is the guys mistress. The alpacas are his soon to be exwife who is trying to buy enough land for themsince she is divorcing him and had to move out. It makes me sick to my stomach to even hear of someone laying a hand on an animal. In my opinion, animals are innocent. They don't have the same thinking as humans. They have things written in their genetic coding or whatever that tells them how to act. Humans act on there own. I'm not sure I'm for beating these sickos to death, but I do feel like they need some serious punishment to make them think about what they did.

• My neighbor had a llama and I liked it. But it did spit at me a lot so I'm not sure if it really liked me all that much. I guess you never know.

• This is so sad! A lady I go to church with raises llama's and I think alpaca's. They are so sweet and cute! I just don't understand some people. And mcr, your right. Its people like this who harm innocent animals that just disgust me. To me, they are no different than the ones hurting children, the elderly, or the ones with disabilities. Its just fo sad!

• Maureen, I couldn't agree more. I really don't get how people can just inflict the most such pain on another living creature that has never harmed a soul. I compare the killing/torturing of animals to the people who rape/murder children, the mentally deficient or the elderly. It's the same deal. Sure, children could grow up to accomplish SO much, and the elderly have lived long lives and don't deserve to go out that way; but it's the idea of people harming people/animals who can't defend themselves. There was a similar case when I was in high school of teenagers in the Tampa area beating a Llama to death. It's just unreal. These animals don't deserve this.

• This same thing happened in my hometown back in 1981. It was a high school senior prank by 3 boys that thought it would be fun to tie up a pregnant llama and beat it to death. They then laid it in a bed of hay in front of the entrance of the rival high school for everyone to find the next day. But one step further, it was a pregnant llama and they cut the fetus out of it and laid it out with the mama. Gross huh? One of the little bastards ran his car off of the mountain after losing his college scholarship for his involvement in that particular escapade. Who beats a defenseless animal to death? Llamas and alpacas are gentle and loyal--like dogs. It's very sad. That girl and those boys are old enough to know better. Interesting that the girl is considered old enough and mature enough to go into a bar and drink, and those boys are just shy of being able to serve in our military, and they don't have enough sense to stay at home and stay out of this kind of trouble that will follow them forever.
