• I OWN A PIT BULL MYSELF.AND I AM NOT THE TYPICAL(ACCORDING TO PROFILES)PIT BULL OWNER.I AM ALMOST 60 YEARS OLD,HAVE MY 86 YEAR OLD MOTHER AND MY 8 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER LIVING WITH ME AS WELL.MY PIT IS HOLLEY AND SHE APPEARS VERY AGGRESSIVE BUT WOULD NOT HURT A FLY. IF THE POLICE CAME TO MY HOME AND SHOT MY DOG,I WOULD HAVE TO CONSIDER SHOOTING BACK IN SELF DEFENSE OF MY PET.THIS ENTIRE DRUG RAID WAS POORLY CARRIED OUT.THE POLICE SEEMED TO TAKE THEIR TIME AND SHOT THE DOGS JUST BECAUSE THEY COULD.ONE WAS A CORGI,GOOD GRIEF HOW STUPID WAS THAT. THE PIT WAS BEHIND A BARRIER.EXCUSE ME,BUT THESE GUYS SHOULD BE SUED AND BE PUT ON SUSPENSION.THEY NEED COUNSELING AND THEN THEY NEED TO LEARN HOW TO CONDUCT A DRUG RAID.THEY COULD HAVE SHOT ONE OF THE CHILDREN PRESENT IN THE HOME.THE PARENTS SHOULD SUE FOR RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT AND FOR POST TRAUMATIC STRESS ON BEHALF OF THEIR KIDS.

• I like how they will most likely say the dog attacked them, although they raided this man's house in the middle of the night and dogs obviously don't know a police officer from an ordinary citizen. As a matter of fact many dogs I know (including mine) will become more defensive around people carrying large amounts of flashy clothes or equipment (i.e. all of the things the officers were wearing). And don't most, if not all precincts, use dogs for the PURPOSE of attacking those who won't listen to them? Ridiculous.

• What I just saw was 1 dozen very large and loud men, in bullet proof vests, armed to the tonsils with rifles and shields - (prematurely) shoot two dogs (one being a corgi that can cause as much damage as a snail) - when they bashed in a door 7 seconds after they knocked on it. Because it was by the book. All over this devil we call weed. There are no curves or ways out of this- Columbia Police, you made yourselves look less than retarded. You made people lose faith in what you do as a living, and you made me feel less safe. Thank you. Keep up the good work, you pigs...stupid, ignorant, by-the-book pigs. I hope there is a hell for you even though I know your life already sucks. Strong and deep thoughts go out to the young man, woman, child and especially, two innocent dog friends.

• Why was this particular gentleman's home raided? Was there not a warrant? What was the reason stated in that warrant? Did this particular gentleman have a criminal record? Was that criminal record for dealing drugs? Did the fact that the warrant was delayed for several days give said gentleman time to move the suspected marijuana from his residence? What we see is one thing, what the circumstances that led to it are is what we should be questioning.

• I've also found that pepper spay is a very effective deterrent to aggressive dogs. An officer ready with a catch pole or net can deal with dogs as well. The point is that it is seldom necessary to shoot a dog. The police have made this suspect and his family a sympathetic victims of their abusive use of force and may have opened themselves to lawsuits as well as have what would have been a good bust thrown out of court.

• They taze everything else, why not a dog too? La pinche chota, killing the dog. My dog would freak out too if those dipshits were to storm my house. How would they feel if the situation was reversed? Shoot first, prove innocence later? America, fuck yeah. I sleep with a shotgun next to my bed, who in the hell really hears what someone that is breaking into their house at ass:30 in the morning. I would probably shoot one of them by mistake. The good guys. Pfft.

• What a joke. This is why cops have a bad reputation. Are you kidding me? I would sue, sue, raise hell. I would never let it die until these clowns were never allowed to work in the police department again.

• And people ask me , "what do you mean you don't trust the cops?". Jerks, if they broke into my house for no good goddamn reason they'd probably kill me as well, I have a pack of viscious dogs and am armed to the teeth. Yet I am a law abiding citizen and DO NOT break any laws. Stupid cops, just like the stero type. Just like that stupid cop that shot the daushund from next door because he was "afraid for his life" what a load of bullshit.

• I like cops and support them in most instances but this site really does know how to find the cops that are behaving badly. These guys are nothing but bullies that make the good cops look bad. Hearing the cry of these dogs from being shot was heartbreaking. It's not fair that law enforcement officers are allowed to act worse than the criminals. If they had investigated enough to know this guy had drugs than they probably knew he had dogs, that would most likely be in the house at the time of the raid, and they should have planned for it appropriately. A taser set on a lighter setting can stop a dog w/o killing it. Disgraceful police work. This is just another example of how police work has changed since my grandfather was a cop. He was a peace officer that was sworn to serve and protect. The public is no longer being served or protected when our homes are being invaded and our innocent loved ones murdered by black knights in kevlar.

• Another example of Law Enforcement abusing Marijuana laws to piss in societies cheerios. What a total waste of taxpayer money.

• Why in the hell are the police so interested in pot dealing anyway. I want you all to know that I live in this town and under an ounce of pot is a ticket-able offense. AND, they need a freakin swat team to deal with it???? Let me also say that there are plenty of rapists, robberies and school violence to keep them busy. But no, they go after pot smokers!!! Something is very wrong with this picture. OH, and the DOG!!!! I have a terrier mix and he would become combative too if an entire swat team would have come to our house in the middle of the night. It is what dogs do! They protect their people.

• I think the cops taped it, Kris. Video is really pervasive in police work now, just because it's evidence that they did everything correct -- though not in this case -- and people won't be able to make false claims against them.

• Oh that's a HORRIBLE sound! I had to stop it at 1:30s. .... but Moet is funny... I'm still pouting though. What the hell did they go and shoot the little guy for?! daughter," why did they shoot the dog!" Me." Because they're idiots dear."

• Ah yes, the corgi... the most dangerous and deadly of all dogs...(the pit bull was coralled in the kitchen) This just infuriates me! Those cold-blooded sacks of crap cops need to be suspended and they should be sued! Shooting animals for no reason and traumatizing children for a few grams of weed and a grinder. Yeah, way to protect society, assholes.

• They shot a pit bull and a corgi, at least one dog being shot in front of a child. Then they charged the parents with child endangerment. They raided his house in the middle of the night, which isn't unusual. Except that this was a bungled raid, and Mr. Whitworth could easily have assumed this was a break-in and pulled out a gun. He could have killed one of them by accident, but more likely, the "endangered" child might have had his or her parent shot that night as well.

• I did not watch that video because then I would be forced to launch into a tirade about the law enforcement in that area being stupid fuckers that would shoot dogs for no god damn good reason amongst other things like busting in on the wrong household etc etc.

• Can someone explain who is taping that video? Because it seems weird, plus they don't seem to be moving with any real urgency. I don't doubt the story, I just doubt that the video is real.
