Neighbors Who See Stabbing Kick Ass
Justin Jones & Julia Tomlin's Baby Fell Onto Lit Stove Burner, But They Didn't Get Her Medical Attention
![]() |
| His baby daughter fell onto a lit stove burner, but Justin Jones saw no reason to take her to the doctor |
The incident happened April 30. But it wouldn't be until Tuesday that child services and medics arrived at the home to get the child the help she needed.
There's still no word on why the couple refused to get their daughter to a doctor. Maybe they thought they couldn't afford it. Maybe they thought a few burns by open flame would toughen the little girl up.
Either way, the baby was taken to the hospital. The parents have both charged with felony child neglect. And the remaining children have been taken from the home.

I know the family a lot better than you NONAME and you don't know what your talking about, so keep your negative crap to yourself.I know exactly what happened and none of you people are even close to the truth.Until you've walked in their shoes, don't judge them!!!! They have enough to deal with with having to read this crap from you.Isn't it past your bedtime CT?
-
Mike, proper grammar helps your point -- "there were no flames" -- "stop judging". What exactly is a pie hole? Me, not a big fan of pie. Anyone a fan of pie? What kind do you prefer?
-
I have personal knowledge of this family from years ago and they do not need those kids. They are not mentally or financially able to take care of them. Obviously not smart enough either to have put the baby on a stove. I feel horrible for these children. They didnt ask to be brought into this world by two people who have some serious issues.
-
You people make me sick! There was no flames or lit burner or meth! You don't have a clue what happened or the circumstances surronding it! So shut your pie holes and stop judges people on what the media prints.
-
Meth much?
-
Thanks Bill, for thoroughly destroying the once enjoyable images I had of cheetos and sausage,...back to the cullinary drawing boards for this poster. et tu jimmy dean? (quaine?!)
-
JScic: excuse you, jerk. I don't recall giving you permission to address me personally; I have no memory of giving you permission to open your foul-breathed yap at all come to think of it. In the future, do be kind enough to do us all the favor of sticking your grimy sausage-fingers in the nearest running garbage disposal the next time you wish to say something. I am sure that the results of your feeble nubs probing the cheeto-crusted keys will be just as coherent. Have a nice day.

Ibejeph, It wouldn't matter to me what these "parents" looked like. They could have been millionaire's and I still wouldn't like them. Every parent makes mistakes. But this? This is not a mistake. This is neglect. This is not just a little boo boo where the baby touched a burner. She fell into one!!!! My little brother was accidently pushed into a camp fire when he was about 3. Him and one of our older cousins were running around the fire pit, despite being old a million times to stop or someone was gonna get hurt. I guess I shouldn't say he was pushed, more like he tripped and fell wig some slight assistance from cousin. When he fell, someone grabbed him up and ran him to the little water faucet they have out at the lake. Then my parents rushed him to the nearest town, about 25 miles away. We didnt have insurance at the time, but that didnt matter. Their child was in pain and needed medical attention. He had first and second degrees burns on his butt. Had they just said, oh well we cant afford it or oh its not that bad of a burn, my little brother could have gotten a serious infection and died. And I'm all for CPS "destroying" a family if there is obvious signs of abuse and neglect, which are very evident from this story. And, its also evident that something is going on in that house. Thank you CT for finding that out. A running ending to my brothers story. He had just gotten good at potty training when that all happened and he had to wear diapers again to protect his skin. I felt so be for the little guy!!!!! He was so confussed!! And then, after several years had passed, when he would get into trouble and get the rare spanking, he would yell at my parents "Your gonna make my scars come back!!! or "your hurting my burns!!" I thought it was kinda funny hearing him trying to get out of spankings!!!!
-
Yes, CW, I was thinking the same.
-
Hey CT-that would explain why they didn't seek medical attention for that baby.

Wonder why the Dad is still in jail BTW? He is still there for a previous issue - FAILING TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER. http://www.wtkr.com/news/wtkr-charged-parents-nn,0,377199.story

I'm a parent, yup, and parents such as myself surely do make mistakes but not usually to this extent and then not seek help. You have to admit it does make them look complicit. Again, the news report clearly states BURNED BADLY. And if you listen to the report it also said that the apartment was a complete mess. Not a reason to take the kids away but I'm sure it didn't help their situation. I don't recall saying anyone should have any type of sterilization or saying I was a better parent anyone here either. It is not destruction of the family unless they dissolve the family structure permanently and as we've seen on here many times before that doesn't happen over just one incident. Unfortunately it can come after something really awful happening to one of the children before they are taken away permanently. But I am blond so that probably clouds my judgment.

I agree, drugs were likely a factor. Ibejeph you're entitled to your opinion of course, I dont think its a likely one though, but whether or not you feel that placing a child on a countertop is negligent...NOT taking it to a hospital afterwards IS in MY opinion. And since they're not medical professionals they dont have the required skills to determine whether or not it "merited medical attention"...the simple fact there were burns on the shoulders, back, and arms would make any responsible parent seek attention. I wont go so far as to say you need castrated for your opinions, but I sincerely hope that in the same situation with a child YOU yourself would seek medical attention for it. Also as far as Child protective services go....Its more likely there were other factors they considered too when taking the children....like unliveable conditions, and suspicion of manufacturing for one. Your theory that they were trumping things up to "inflate their statistics" very unlikely and the cost alone would often deter them from doing such a thing...and unfortunately in Many situations CPS does nothing for economic reasons alone so in this instance I salute them. Good day
-
I did not comment on the Blondie pederast,,, did not read it because I don't want to see that kind of stuff. If I had I'd spew some hysteria of the angry type. But you? I just don't think you have children and YES being a parent IS different than a non-parent opinion or else you have a secret. you'd probably NOT want to share lest it fuel for the fodder
-
vas deferens are not testis dude
-
Oh yes, I deserve to have my reproductive ability removed because I dare question the DESTRUCTION OF A FAMILY. And where is meth mentioned in this story? Maybe the blank stare is that THEIR FAMILY WAS TORN APART. The girl had burns...OK, but how bad were they? Was it very bad, like 3rd degree or was it minor, like a blister? I've been burned before, my entire hand and I never went to see a doctor. Notice that so many of you like to feel superior. You ride up on that high horse and put these people down without ever once questioning the reasoning behind the removal of their children. You'd rather all talk about how wonderful you are as parents, accuse them of being meth addicts, revel in their family being torn apart, suggest my tubes be tied or my balls removed... I wonder if this is because they don't look like smart, successful people? If this was Nancy the blonde cheerleader and her handsome husband, what would these comments say? Seriously, look at the comments of the story of the blonde kindergarden teacher accused of being a child molester. Where is the outrage there?
-
or HIS vas deferens clipped I'll pitch -in some pennies for that
-
ibejeph........i'll pay for you to have your tubes tied
-
Hmmm, "I'm sure none of you have done anything stupid that ended up hurting a child" Sure, we've all done something we felt bad about when our kid bumped their head or got a "boo boo" on our watch but badly burned isn't equivalent to a "boo boo". I think it would be a safe bet that not too many people put their one year old not on kitchen counter as stated above but a LIT STOVE and then leave them unattended -- add to that neglect to get them medical attention when they have burns on their arms, back. I listened to the news report, they state clearly more than once that the child was badly burned.
-
This is one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard of! It's beyond stupidity! It's retarded!
-
Reid: I was wondering that myself. Why did they come?
-
I was curious about how the medical attention and child services arrived to help the child 5 days after the incident. Did someone report them or was child services doing a routine welfare check? I don't think it was a money problem taking the child to the doctor. Two people their age with 5 kids under the age of 6 have MEDICAID written all over them, so cost would not have been an issue. I have a sneaking suspicion they didn't want child services involved because it probably was not the first incident of child neglect. These two don't look like the brightest crayons in the box.

ubjeph: : my daughter was perpendicular to the fire-pit while camping and my mother pulled a flaming marshmellow out - before I could voice at her for facing my daughter she'd turned and blew - my daughter was two feet away. There were some tears and pink spots where bits of marshmellow sprayed her but nothing serious. n ow THAT is an ACCIDENT.
-
Yes, they put her on the stove just like a knife "accidentally" stabs someone. For Chr*sts sake people, I have toddlers and I don't let them near matches, open flames, staircases, medicine, cleaning fluids - man ,I could go on and on but that is because I have a BRAIN IN MY HEAD. You don't take your child to the ER because you know you did something to cause the injury. Doubtful it was accidental. Maybe perhaps, but doubtful
-
Maybe they should have spent their money on birth control rather than the meth.
-
Ok, now seriously? wtf are they ppl still having children for? She needs to get fixed and he needs to get cut? You know dam well that, these ppl could of took that baby to the hospital, u know these dam ppl are receiving aide from the goverment, these idiots dont deserve there children back, they are selfish, and only think of themselves, and dont deserve to be called parents. There peices of shit, that deserve no mercy or no remore, thank god, they took that child and the rest of the childrent away, who knows how they lived with these 2 peice's of crap.
-
yes even better-they sat they baby directly onto the stove for crying out loud!!
-
I think that placing a child on top of a stove where you're cooking constitutes as negligence. It does not say counter, it says stove. Parents aren't perfect by any means, but I think common sense would have told these two not to place her on the stove. You may think that burns are no big deal, but you should realize that it doesn't matter what degree of burn it is, when you break your skin even to the slightest-infection is very likely to occur if you don't tend to the wounds.
-
Hey ibejeph - I am pretty proud to say I have NEVER hurt my daughter, or done anything to cause her harm. If these two are unable to provide a safe environment for their children then someone needs to have a look at that household. No matter the severity of the burns, YOU DON'T SIT A BABY ON A COUNTER NEAR A LIT STOVE.
-
I'm sure none of you have done anything stupid that ended up hurting a child. You are perfect in all you do and that is why you get to put down those who are not. That's sarcasm for you way up there on your high horse. Who knows how bad the burns are. The article doesn't even mention how severe or not they are. If the girl fell in for a second, it might be just a light burn, nothing some lotion and a hug couldn't smooth. With six kids, I'm sure just making dinner is an adventure. Placing the kid down on a counter is NOT child abuse. The kid accidently falling in is NOT child abuse. It is an accident. This could very well be an overzealous Child Protection Agency, pouncing on something minor, brandishing their power and inflating their statistics by going after a couple who appear unable to afford a proper defense. How many times has that story played out, years after the headlines have gone away? They tore up a family. There better be a damn good reason why.
-
Placing a baby within reach of an open flame is negligent, and incompetent. Anyone who has had to go through the process of "baby-proofing" their home, knows just how many potential hazards that exist. Hazards that are usually overlooked when babies are not present. This couple has no excuse for this nonsense, other than "genetic lack of necessary intelligence".
-
Holy crap-that poor baby!! I'm with Bheobe-distracted from drug use, on a runner and...
-
no- I'm judging maybe its a control freak a-hole glare, they can look pretty close to the untrained eye
-
Aside from being THAT stupid as to sit a flammable human on a lit stove- how can the mother change that baby's diaper and not be grief stricken. I don't buy it's the poverty I would bet $ that drugs are EXACTLY why they didn't bring baby in. I've seen that cold stare before- Meth
-
Gee Latex Bill they probably didn't take her in because their neglect IS ABUSE. Being unbearbly stupid is not an excuse . Being poor is not a reason. You denigrate all poor people by defending the rights of these morons to neglect treating their seriously injured infant. Poverty has NOTHING to do with it. Have a little empathy for the baby they were responsible for and allowed to sit on a stove next to an open flame. I'm gonna start shaming you for being an idiot as well. I don't need to wait and see how this plays out.
-
They likely didn't take the kid in for fear of A) having her taken away because of the accident, and B) the huge expense involved. Just bad luck and poverty seem to be at play here, not maliciousness. We will have to wait and see how this plays out before we start shaming them.
-
Ok, seriously, who sets a baby near a burner?!?! I freak out if my daughter gets within 5 feet of one, and I have an electric stove so there are no flames! But still, I child can trip and fall and burn themselves and they aren't exactly aware of their surroundings. I don't know how many times I have had to tell my daughter to be careful cause the burner was on. But to set a baby right by one?!?! Maybe with so many young ones, they were tired and not thinking right? Or, possibly drugs? I don't wanna think that, but you just never know. That could be why they didn't take her to a doctor. Or maybe they are just idiots. I don't know. I know if I didn't have insurance and something happened to my daughter I would still get her medical help if something happened to her. Most hospitals will work with you and you can make payments. Nothing is too expensive when it comes to the health of your child. Gonna be interested in any updates you get, Pete.
