UPDATE: Following a tip, sheriff's deputies served a search warrant at 3 a.m. today and found Abbi hiding in an attic in New London, Ohio. It appears she's safe and sound. She was with her boyfriend Bobby Young at the time. See update after the jump...

Text messages Abbi sent indicate she left on her own. But her parents say Bobby Young is a controlling creep, and police believe she may now be in danger.
Abbi Obermiller, 17, is a straight-A honor student from Norwalk, Ohio. She hoped to someday become a doctor. But she also seemed intent on marrying her 20-year-old boyfriend Robert J. "Bobby" Young. The two planned to travel to West Virginia to wed.

At least that's what police believe. But sometime in the wee hours of June 7, she disappeared from her home. Detectives know she was there at 1 a.m. that morning. They also know she called Young somewhere around 4 a.m. She was reported missing when her parents found her gone at 6 a.m. that day.

She hasn't been seen since.

Police can't rule out foul play, since Young has clammed up and won't say what he knows about Abbi. He initially offered to take a polygraph, then reneged after he lawyered up. So police threw him in the slam for obstruction of justice.

Meanwhile, Abbi's parents believe Young's relatives may be involved in the girl's disappearance. They think the relatives are holding her against her will in either Toledo or Detroit, but there's no word on why they've been led to believe this.

Police say Abbi and Young exchanged text messages at the time she vanished, but there's been no cell traffic since. And though Abbi seemed intent on marrying in West Virginia, her parents say it's unlike her to leave without contacting them.

UPDATE: Police say Abbi coordinated her disappearance with boyfriend Bobby Young.

She was staying at her grandparents home in Norwalk, Ohio on the night of June 7. Police say Abbi and Young were trading text messages that evening, clearly planning to run away together. And they now say she's possibly in danger.

The messages indicate the 20-year-old Young was arranging to have her picked up early in the morning. Abbi repeatedly sent messages asking Young "How much longer?"

At 12:45 a.m., Young told her to "leave now." The last message from Abbi's phone appears to provide directions for Young to meet her. Abbi also sent a text to another friend saying she wouldn't be around for awhile. And still another friend says she saw Abbi wearing a wedding ring prior to her disappearance.

A note found in her grandparents home offered her regrets: "I just couldn't take any more of this drama, it's not good for me. Love you all. Hope to see you soon. Love, Abbi,"

Young, apparently not the brightest bulb, tried to tell cops that the messages were from the previous week, when they were arranging to go swimming. It seems he's never heard of time stamps.

But he's also refused to take a polygraph and won't help police. He was charged June 14 with obstruction of justice and failure to cooperate with an investigation.

That fits a pattern, say Abbi's parents, of his behavior as a controlling creep. Initially, mother Rose Obermiller says she liked Young. He played baseball and basketball, and seemed to be a good Christian boy.

But she says he started trying to keep Abbi away from her friends and family, the quintessential behavior of the abusive boyfriend.

"He was telling her, 'No I don't want you to be class treasurer; no, I don't want you to go to New York with your choir; no, I don't want you to see these friends and relatives," Rose told CNN. "He was telling her what not to do."

UPDATE II: Abbi has been found by police hiding in an attic.

Police received a tip that Abbi was hiding in an attic in New London, Ohio. When they raided the place, they first found Bobby Young, who was sleeping and denied Abbi was with him. But she was later found hiding in the attic.

There aren't many more initial details, but we'll keep you posted.
