UPDATE: The insatiable public appetite for news on Joran van der Sloot may help pay for his murder defense in Peru. Reports say that he's asking for $1 million in exchange for a tell-all interview from his jail cell. See update after the jump...

Joran van der Sloot, a 22-year-old from Holland, remains the chief suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. She's the Alabama high school student who went missing while vacationing in Arubu five years ago.

Though van der Sloot has made several semi-confessions to being involved in her disappearance, he's claimed there was an accident, and that he dumped her body in various places.

Aruban police believe he's been lying about the case, and is only throwing out false information to keep them off his scent. They've never managed to prosecute the little prick for Natalee's slaying.

But here's hoping Peru cops have more luck, because van der Sloot is wanted for murder again.

van der Sloot is now suspected of killing Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez in Lima. She was last seen leaving a casino with the creep in the early hours of May 26. She was later found dead from multiple stab wounds in van der Sloot's hotel room, according to initial reports. But he's apparently fled the country.

Peruvian officials say he's a prime suspect in the slaying, and have issued an Interpol warrant for his arrest. van der Sloot's believed to be in Chile.

UPDATE: Joran van der Sloot has been arrested in Chile.

Joran van der Sloot has been arrested and is in police custody in Santiago, Chile. He'd apparently fled by land to Chile after employees found the body of Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez in his Peruvian hotel room.

He'd been witnessed with Stephany on surveillance cameras at the Atlantic City Casino in Lima the night before the murder. A hotel guest and an employee also saw them enter the hotel at 5 a.m. on the day her body was found.

Unfortunately, the rumors that he'd committed suicide have proven untrue. But that was probably wishful thinking anyway. A guy who kills young women is probably much too chickenshit to kill himself.

UPDATE II: van der Sloot now wanted in Alabama on extortion charges.

Weeks before the little creep killed again in Peru, Joran van der Sloot was being investigated for extortion in Alabama. It seems he'd tried to extort $250,000 from someone in exchange for the location of Natalee Holloway's body and the circumstances surrounding her death.

In other words, the little prick was trying to cash for murdering the high school girl. The feds say that on May 10, va der Sloot received an initial payment of $15,000 wired to a Netherlands bank.

The U.S. has issued an international arrest warrant, but it might be a moot point. Peru will keep him on murder charges. And since this time van der Sloot murdered a rich man's daughter, he's going to have a hard time buying or lawyering his way to freedom.

UPDATE III: Surveillance video from van der Sloot's hotel on the morning of the murder.

Surveillance video below shows van der sloot arriving at his hotel with Stephany at about 5 a.m., then leaving again four hours later. He told the hotel clerk not to bother his girlfriend, so she wouldn't be discovered until two days later.
