Victoria Odom, a 38-year-old mother of four from Flint, Michigan, was returning home from taking her 12-year-old daughter to the doctor. That's when she saw her 17-year-old son's car in the driveway. Since he was supposed to be in school, mom wasn't happy...

Then she went to her room to find the kid had stolen some interactive video games on child rearing. So you might say mom was pissed.

The two began to argue and the 12-year-old daughter heard a scuffle. She ran upstairs to find her brother beating Victoria with a frying pan in a bedroom.

The girl tried to call police, but her brother knocked the phone away. Her mother yelled for her to run and call police. The last the little girl saw was her mother cowering in a corner, trying to cover herself as her brother pounded away with a frying pan.

A neighbor heard the girl crying outside and ran to help, then called police. The son, who hasn't been named, is now charged with murder.

Police still don't know how the violence rose so quickly. But mother and son had apparently argued before. Beverley Henley, the boy's grandmother, says Victoria was a strict mom. But she also says her grandson was polite and she'd never even heard him raise his voice before.
