First of all, a person has to commit a crime three or more times on three or more different occasions to be considered serial (serial rape, serial murder, serial burglary, serial arson, etc.). And second, criminals are only sent to mental hospitals if they are insane. They are not insane. And yes, it is believable. Necrophilia is a common crime, whether it is reported or not.
