The victim met the girls at the back door. That's where her attackers began to kick and punch her all the way to a bedroom. They forced the girl to her knees, carved her body with a knife, then stabbed her five times.
After the attack, they made her take a shower to wash away the evidence. They also threatened to attack again if the victim told anyone.
One of the attackers, who haven't been named because they're juveniles, went home, washed up, then went shopping with her mother.
The victim, meanwhile, lay bleeding on the floor of her bathroom until she managed to get a phone and call 911. At first doctors thought she might die. The stabbing left her with a collapsed lung. But she eventually recovered.
And when she did, she didn't have any reluctance about identifying her attackers.
Last week, both assailants pleaded guilty in adult court to attempted murder in exchange for prosecutors dropping additional charges of torture, which could have resulted in a life sentence. One will be sentenced to 17 years in prison; the other will get 18 years.
While their plea will see them released from prison when they're in their 30s, it also stipulates that they've already got two strikes under California's three strikes law. If they ever commit another felony, they'll automatically get life. (Special thanks to SoCalDreamer for the tip.)
