I love how the writer of this article calls the pastors douchebags and then already assumes they are guilty.....what an idiot! The pastors have since been released because the whole story simply wasnt truthful. These same pastors had an incident in 2005 where a woman molested a young boy then later confessed to one of the church deacons which immediately notified law enforcement. Pastor Dan and Laura are doing great things and are great people....find something better to write about rather than smearing a church and not having your facts straight.

• Sadly this is not the whole story the older girl whom had the meeting with the pastors was later kicked out of the church after was turned 18 moved out of her fathers house and wanted to report her father to protect her younger sister,, if this is not bad enough we also find out that this is a disturbing pattern in at least two other sexual abuse cases at this church both of which involved church staff and young children in both cases the victims were forsed to leave the church and others were told to have nothing to do with them or they were next to go.

• The problem with many Christians is they think that they HAVE to FORGIVE and FORGET. They think it is what Jesus would do. Trouble is, they over-do it, like so many aspects of their practice of their religion. They don't know when to stop, when to moderate, when to cast out the devil among them like God did when he cast out Lucifer. Jeebus Frikkin' Kriste!!!! They need to stop the whole forgetting part of the forgive equation. Jesus never said that and if he did, he was kidding. Humans are supposed to remember. We have memories for a reason. To learn how to recognize the predator before he can hunt another child down. Hellooooo! Forgiveness is in the heart of the harmed, the wounded, the aggrieved. It is their job to do so when and if they are able. It is not everyone else's job to brow-beat them, to hurry them along, to take their focus off the offender in order to force the victim to forgive as quickly as possible. It's time for all churches to have to pay taxes and it's time for them to pay stiff consequences for not turning into the authorities those among them who violate the law. Really, it's not that different than when Muslims won't turn over the homicidal fanatics among them. God damn it, this should be a no-fucking-brainer. Guard the children damn it! THAT is what Jesus would do FIRST and ALWAYS!

• I think it's part of that fundamentalist brand of forgiveness, Majii. The problem is that they readily extend that forgiveness to their own -- preachers, fellow parishioners, the upstanding citizens, etc. -- but would never extend it to someone outside that domain. The basic conceit is that they're a higher form of human in their own eyes. If it's one of their guys, it's a mistake cleansed by forgiveness. If the assailant is outside their peer group, they need to be electrocuted.

• I attended this church for over two years. I started seeing things that I questioned. Pastor Dan called me into his office after one Wednesday night service to let me know it wasn't acceptable for me to hang out with one of my friends who had left the church (a great woman who happened to have served as the Music Minister for several years. She left because the Pastor wouldn't let the man she was dating attend the church). During this meeting I asked McCluskey if we could schedule a meeting after I gathered my thoughts because I had some questions for HIM. He promptly told me that if I had questions then he wasn't my pastor and COTW wasn't my church. My children attended the private school and weren't allowed to even FINISH OUT THE WEEK. My best friend in the church refused to speak with me and I was shunned by everyone. Even this (unknown to me at the time) molesting father whom I saw in the local grocery store a few weeks after I left the church wouldn't speak with me. My hope is that the people who are still going to this church WAKE UP and see the truth and RUN as fast as they can.

• What makes it worse, is that supposed Religious Figures whom children are indoctrinated to trust, and obey...led the Victims astray in this situation. It's one of the reasons I find it hard to see any benefit in conditioning children (before the age of consent) to Obey a particular religion. I think they should be taught moral values, manners, all the things which make us civilized human beings,..and then later on whenever they're mature enough to understand things on an intellectual level, they can be given histories of various religions and theological creeds known to Us. ( then they would be more possessed of Higher degrees of cognitive freedom than those who are simply victims of Traditional Inheritance.)

I can't express my outrage over the behavior of the McCluskeys. It was not up to them to absolve this coward of the damage that he did to these girls that will impact the rest of their lives. How could they live with themselves knowing what they knew, and knowing that it was wrong? This dad molested his OWN daughters! I am thoroughly disgusted with these characters. To protect this vile creature, the McCluskeys chose personal friendship and their version of Christianity over the nightmare that these girls were living on a daily basis. But, then again, I must say that there are a whole lot of people like these around who hide behind their version of Christianity and commit some of the worst offenses known to mankind.

Then Dad, the Pastor & his wife had a meeting about it. At no point in time was Mom mentioned in this story. Considering that, I'd have to say that Mom had no idea what was going on in this case. Who knows if Mom & Dad are even married or if Mom is even alive (not that I wish her any harm). The sole blame here is on the Pastors & the Dad.

• I am very sorry that this young girl had to endure 2 more years of sexual abuse by her father because these MANDATED REPORTERS failed to do their job, and take matters into their own hands.
