• @cw and angry grandma even though i am not a christian. i prefer the biblical name for that legume - chick peas. the only reason the name got changed to gabanzo beans. was to increase sales to certain groups of folks.

Like i said before, I have put to much chemical and additives in my body with different foods for my entire life. if i got too into healthy foods (which i would have to learn to like) my body would crash and burn. and just for the record: only meat i eat (when i eat it about once a week if that) is pork, chicken breast, turkey (white meat only) and rarely steak or hamburger. Mostly i eat veggie soup (i make) or salads. Meat sometimes makes me very sick. I don't eat real bacon nor real eggs and no cheese. I find ways to get protein that i can stomack. Mostly peanut butter. I do a table spoon of it 3x a wk. Thing is it's very fattening!!!! So vegan, does this make me a partial vegan? lol

• Agreed diamondgirl9-and who knows what else this sack of shit has done but hasn't come to light yet. And BTW I like hummus-it's just ground up garbanzo beans. Mixed with a little red pepper? yummy Tofu is good also when done right. I've used it to make chocolate cream pie and no one even knew.

• @cw This could have easily been a homicide. He didn't know if people were in that building,and apparently didn't care. There could have been security or maintenance people,someone working late. I guess if have 2 legs instead of 4,it's ok if you die a horrible death.

• Hey, I love hummus, but I'm far from vegan. I also love cheese and not that soy cheese everyone claims is so great. On the story note: The extremists of any particular group seem to be the ones that make headlines and cause stereotypes. I'm sorry that this dude was a vegan, because he seems to simply be a douche. Jerkwads should not belong to any groups, or be the respresentative for any particular group. It's one thing to boycott something (i.e. don't buy the product), but it's another thing to destroy it all together. Who does this guy really think he helped? He only caused insurance premiums to go up and a delay in the shipment of the finished goods.

• In A Gadda Da Vegan : Hummus! Yuk! I actually tried it once. ONCE.... That didn't stay down!! Hey i'm for everyone to choose whatever they want to eat. Just don't force feed (sorry for the pun! lol) it to me. I have no problem with anyone who doesn't eat what i eat. I'm not going on a witchhunt and burn everyone who doesn't eat meat. I honestly have only one problem! Where do they come up with food and words such as Hummus and Tofu? I'm from the School of George Carlin on those. And also on Yogute! The words make me think all kinds of crap! As a child of the 60's and 70's, to us a vegan was someone who only ate "rabbit food" (salads, veggies and such) But hey that's mostly what i eat as well, but i'm not a vegan. I only eat to be healthy. So i say, Stay healthy and eat whatever you choose. And we will be fine. (just no candy or junk foods! They not good for anyone!)

• A real vegan would tattoo the word "hummus" on his neck. Word in some reports is that he was eating hamburgers just before he was arrested. @angry grandma - yes vegans are actually normal people, and most of us would never think of harming people any more than animals... it's just that the whackos get all the press and give the rest of us a bad name. But, FWIW, vegans don't eat chicken or fish - though I think we're not that hard to please and truly appreciate the consideration that most people give us. We do want to destroy animal agriculture, but mainly by attrition - by not supporting it. We don't want to see people without livelihoods - just in different ones ;) Also, to show how ineffectual these criminal methods are, both the torched businesses are re-opening soon, the insurance probably covered most of the damage.

• @ Vegan. Sorry for the wrong information. As my daughter in law and son (and their kids) claim to be vegans. But they do eat fish and white meat chicken sometimes. I am not worldly enuff to know if that is correct or not. I know that most food products they eat are 100% organic and they eat NO dairy. They have been like this for 10 yrs now, and both boys are very healthy. I personally like my meat every now and then and I eat no dairy (except whole milk in my tea) due to health reasons. Living on a farm which raised it's own food, it's hard not to be a little put off of "gamey" meat. So that's my reasons for not eating that much meat. besides, i don't think my body could live without the daily chemicals i put in it after all these years!!!!! sorry to upset your passion. Didn't mean to offend you.

• So I guess AG you can check off a few people from your quest list for your next BBQ, wouldn't want anyone to burn down your house for serving, now would you? The one vegan that I do know would never be insulted to be invited to my house - even though they are well aware that we eat poultry and fish. They are not overly self- righteous like "some" people appear to be - we are just friends. I found the article that I read earlier this year about Moby - he is a vegan and he said -- "There are a lot of people in the animal rights movement who can be very passionate and aggressive, and I applaud people's passion, but when people are judgmental and aggressive, all you end up doing is getting other people to turn away in irritation."

• @angry grandma Vegans do NOT eat ANY fish or chicken, so having that at your BBQ for them would still be quite offensive. Vegans do not eat anything that comes from an animal at all nor use products that are derived from animals. No meat, no fish, no eggs, no milk, not even honey. Vegetarians eat no meat but will eat things like eggs, dairy etc. Pescatarians will eat fish as the only meat they will eat. Anyone else claiming to be vegetarian or vegan and eating ANY kind of meat or anyimal bi-product is an idiot who needs to do a skosh more research on the subject.

• People job their jobs and paychecks cuz of this cruncher. I say put him in a cell, chain him to the floor, and make him eat a raw steak. entirely!!!! I have nothing against Veggans. (have a couple in my family) And would be comfortable inviting them to a bbq. Just would make sure there was a lot of Fish, and Chicken (some do eat chicken) and veggies and stuff. That way no one would be offended. This pus bag, was selfish and took things to the extreme. there was no reason to put fire to anyones business. You don't like what they produce, then protest. Or write your congressman. Like all the others do. You don't distroy liveilyhoods. Now the people who owned or worked there have nothing. Atleast he will get a room, 3 squares a day and a gym, tv time, medical. he's garage and should be treated as garbage!
