Jesse Crow is believed to have murdered his wife to keep her from ratting out his marijuana growing operation
It's probably the best of all possible endings: Jailers in Monterey County, California found Jesse John Crow hanging in his jail cell at 3 a.m. on Saturday. Crow had been jailed for the murder of his wife, who went missing from their Prundale home in February.

According to police, the newlyweds were experiencing marital problems. At the time, Jesse had been openly cheating on his wife, and Ryann had been telling friends she was contemplating divorce.

After she disappeared, police found that Jesse Crow was running a marijuana grow house. Though it's never been proven, suspicion was that Jesse murdered his wife to keep her from ratting out his dealing.

Police charged him with murder even before Ryann's body was found. They wouldn't find her decomposing remains until four months later, when she was found rotting under a bridge in Foster City.

Jailers say Jesse was found hanging Saturday from a makeshift rope in his cell. He was last seen alive an hour earlier during a routine check. But since he was in a solitary cell due to publicity involving the case, it doesn't look as if he was murdered by a fellow inmate.

UPDATE: Ryann was murdered after she threatened to rat our her husband's pot growing operation.

They met in July of last year and were married just three weeks later. But Jesse and Ryann had a troubled relationship almost from the start. It seems Jesse kept a number of women on the side, including one he still occasionally lived with. But though he was physically and emotional abuse, she continued to take him back.

That ended just six months into their marriage. She was on her way to her father's birthday party when she stopped by the home of a woman Jesse was living with. They argued about his affairs and Ryann reportedly threatened to rat out his growing operation if he didn't stop seeing the woman.

Witnesses would later see the couple driving away in Jesse's truck. Police say Jesse took his wife to a remote area where he strangled her, shot her in the head, and then bashed in her head with a hammer.

He dumped Ryann in the back of his pickup and called his girlfriend, Summer Donavon, telling her to meet him. As they drove to his parents' home, he even asked her if she thought his truck was leaking blood. He also told her to claim the two spent the weekend together as an alibi.

He left the truck at his parents home and asked two friends to meet him. Then he dumped Ryann's body in the trunk of his friend's BMW and left to purportedly do a pot deal.

Only later did he tell the friends that he killed Ryann. He convinced them, with the help of a gun, to help him dispose of her body, since they were in the weed business with Crow, and would likely be implicated.

They were later seen on video heading to Walmart to buy bleach, a large trash can and cement. They cleaned out the bed of the truck -- but not enough so that police wouldn't later find Ryann's blood.

Crow then dismembered Ryann's body and threw it in the trash can, filling it with cement. A friend had told him that he knew of someone willing to dispose of her for $12,000. So Crow paid the friend $5,000 and two pounds of weed to do the job. But the disposal guy was a fabrication. The friend was just ripping Crow off.

Two friends were later seen on a surveillance camera dumping the trash can filled with Ryann's body over a bridge. They also dumped her car.

But police started closing in after Ryann was reported missing. One of Jesse's friends was the last to see her alive. And he believed that Jesse had planned a snowboarding trip to kill him while they were away. So instead of going on the trip, the man fled to Hawaii, then called the cops.

Police began to slowly put the case together, and Ryann's friends began to cooperate. But Jesse Crow would eventually make it easier on everyone by hanging himself in his jail cell.
