Mauricio Lopez Kills Man Having Affair with Niece, Drinks His Blood to Evade Cops

​Mauricio Lopez had a beef with his roommates. It seems his niece, Mariella Mendez, was having an affair with Macario Cruz, who just happens to be married to Mendez's sister. So on July 24, Lopez threatened to kill them both if they didn't stop the affair...

But his warning, it seems, went for naught. So Lopez decided to make his point more aggressively by stabbing Cruz in the heart and liver -- right in front of Mendez and her four children. Then he filled a plastic cup with Cruz's blood and drank it before fleeing.

Lopez remained free for three days until he tried to get a ride from a woman. The woman recognized him from wanted posters and he was quickly captured by police in Bartow, Florida.

Lopez told the cops that he drank the blood based on a ritual from Mexico. It was supposed to allow him to evade the police, but we're guessing it doesn't work very well, judging by the results.

He's now faces a slew of charges, including including second-degree murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, felony battery, aggravated assault, and acting like an asshole. (Special thanks to reader Jude for the tip.)
