Orly Taitz, Moron of the Day: Fined $20,000 After Suing Obama, Claiming He's Foreign Born

You may recall our recent story on ingrate Justine Winter, where a debate broke out on why lawyers are never fined for filing frivolous lawsuits. Though it may be rare, it looks like lawyers are occasionally lit up for their scumbagocity. But you have to sue the president to get punished...

Meet Orly Taitz, wingnut lawyer and a leader of the birther movement. After President Obama was first elected, the inbred faction of the Republican Party began to claim he was an illegitimate leader, since he was born in Kenya.

Never mind that the party's professional opposition researchers had already debunked the claim. And never mind that Hawaii produced birth certificates showing Obama was clearly born in the US of A. The inbreds, despite having IQs equal to the scoring average of a backup point guard, claimed they knew better.

So Taitz filed a lawsuit in federal court in Georgia, asserting that her client, Army Capt. Connie Rhodes, didn't have to report for deployment in Iraq. The reason? Obama was a foreign born impostor, and therefore his executive orders were moot.

But while such reasoning might have played well among the Guys Who Date Their Sisters Faction of the GOP, it didn't sit well with the federal court in Georgia. Taitz was fined $20,000 for frivolously filing the suit and behaving like an asshole even by lawyer standards.

She appealed twice to the U.S. Supreme Court. Her petitions were rejected by conservative justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas. Now she and her supporters will have to sell their three remaining teeth to pay the fine.

So remember, dear reader: Sometimes our judicial system does punish those who've turned it into a toxic cesspool. You just have to be a particularly unhinged asshole to receive it, and you have to sue someone really famous to get anyone to notice.
