• there is at least one, if not more clergy that thinks animals do not have souls. and therefore by them, the animals can be killed with out supposedly getting into trouble.

• a chicken- even grown is worth, maybe 20 dollars, and thats for a good nature laying hen. a puppy even from a shelter is worth anything from $50 to $5000. also from the looks of the other alive dog he wasn't that big. to say that he couldn't get the dog off the chickens is bullshit, he may be an older man but all he had to do was grab it by the scurf or even get a shovel and run it out of the coop, also if the dog 'died humanly' before getting sliced and diced what killed it? no gun wound, its head wasn't bashed in.. so what? he religion-ed it to death? somethings fishy here and if anything he should be charged with animal abuse and forced to pay the woman for the dog, and emotional distress- the woman is not without blame and should pay for the chickens. how this guy isn't already charged is a mystery and a failure of the police in their aria.

• Addendum: I'd misinterpreted the story a bit, the puppy WAS the one killing the chickens. I HAVE an Alaskan Malamute(of which are almost identical to Huskies in behavior) and they can be very very aggressive when hunting, it is important and necessary make absolutely certain they do not run loose, especially in rural areas. What happened to her puppy was unfortunate but it honestly sounds as if he had no other choice but to kill this Puppy as it was an ongoing problem that wasn't just random, the Puppy had attacked his chickens before(by the way it sounds).

• At first I believed this was simply an act of malicious intent, that he attacked the dog after the fact, it's the way the short explanation made it seem in any case. This is, however, not the case, in fact he killed this Dog while it was still attacking his own coupe, whether the Dog was doing so out of sheer violence or just because its' what it thought was best the Pastor, though taking an extreme measure was well within his rights in killing the Dog to protect the rest of his Crop. This death was not strictly his fault, it was the Owners' responsibility to know the safety and whereabouts of her own. Now, for the puppy slashing, I do not understand the events surrounding it and thus neither I nor someone else can comment on it as we simply do not know the circumstances. In not knowing further information it is simply an added effect to demonize the Pastor rather than report the event. It sounds more like they're just trying to attack out of some love for animals. In truth I can see nothing this man has done wrong, without knowing more details about the puppy the most I see is one trying to protect his own property from potentially dangerous predators' and one who is well within the realms of right in doing so. Do I agree he should have killed this dog? No, but if the owner was irresponsible enough to allow her Dog to simply roam free(I HAVE an Alaskan Malamute, I know how difficult they are to corral, believe me) whenever and wherever it wanted, further that it was a risk to others' LIVELIHOODS'. For all I know(to be fair) this Dog did not JUST kill the chickens, neither did the lab he'd shot, for all I, or we, know these pups were continued problems to his property(as in killing things') and he simply corrected the problem to save his property. As for being afraid for the children? Jesus, he's not TORTURING these animals' like some of the sick fucks posted on here, he's protecting his property. Period. Nowhere beyond the puppy(still of whose circumstances we do NOT understand) has it been reported that he was dangerous to even other DOGS' in general.

• To Never Mind: The 6th Commandment is referring to the murder of human beings, not the killing of animals. In your way of thinking, a minister, nor anyone else who considers themselves Christian or Jewish, could never kill an animal for food, or even spray a wasp nest! The person all of you should be upset at is the dog's owner who allowed her dog to run loose. Had she cared even a fraction as much about her "puppy" as she is now pretending, she would have kept him at home and safe. The fact is, the owner did not care and now that her dog is dead, she is trying to gain sympathy for her own shortcomings. The pastor did the right thing. I have livestock and I had to kill a dog with a pitchfork one day that was harassing my animals. Any dog that comes onto my property and even looks at one of my animals is a dead dog!

• Well, this is a hippocratic preacher, I'm sure he sits there and preaches to his congregation about the 10 commandments and then he breaks the 6th one "thou shall not kill/murder" I think that goes for all living things, this guy should lose his position as a preacher!!!!

• For killing dozens of chickens the judge sentences the dog to the death penalty.
