Sorry: We've Had to Suspend Our RSS Feed

• Hi Pete, This is Scott from Regator... Just stumbled across this post as we were looking to see why your feed was not working... We're sorry you feel this way, but we don't steal your content, we use your titles and a short description just like any search engine, or digg or reddit does to make them available to people searching on our curated blog discovery site. We don't show anything close to the full content, so people have to come here to read the full post. In fact, we've sent you guys thousands of visitors. At any rate, we're nice people and you can just talk to us, if you really really don't want us to aggregate your posts, all you need to do is ask us and we'll remove them. You don't need to take down your entire feed on our account. That's not great to your existing subscribers and could affect your growth and reader retention. If anything, with the amount of spam blogs out there, having an extra link that does direct people to your blog from a high Google authority site is generally seen as a good thing. Anyways, email me (scott atsign regator.com) and we can figure this out. Cheers.

• Would this also work with say games from Facebook? or fantasy sports? nascar? Stuff like these? I always have to update my windows (at home) all the time for my games on my laptop. And the S/O is always bitchin about his pages stalling and having to refresh them all the time, on the desktop. I thought it was just the memory or video cards or it was just my IP! • Dude scares me! I have had the unfortunate event where i showed up at my son's and he was listening to a speach, leature whatever! They blocked my car in so i had to listen to it. People where i come from (SC) in our town claim he is a cult leader. I agree some of what he says is ok. But the other stuff is just outright scary. I figure that if i don't believe in Obama, or his lies, then i don't have to believe in Jones either. But if others like Jones, that's their decision. Me, i'll just follow my own feelings thank you so very much!

• @John Smalls, all you would need is an Aggregator Client that can read RSS. Many Aggregators will also read Atom Feeds common to Blogs, PodCasts, Secure Feeds, etc. Some will even provide Weather and Stock Feeds. They will either display them in your web-browser, or as pop-ups or a ticker on your taskbar, or in an Outlook-style interface. There is the Sage plugin for Firefox. Feedreader is a common Aggregator Client for Windows, Vienna for OSX, and Akgregator for Linux comes pre-installed with the KDE Desktop. Once you have an Aggregator Client installed on your computer, you would just point it to the Feeds provided by the websites you routinely visit and choose whether to display them as a Ticker, Popups, Reader, or a local Web Page, and sit back and enjoy.

• @angry grandma, RSS Feed = Really Simple Syndication Feed. It is a way for subscribers to aggregate content from all the websites they would normally visit without actually having to visit all of those sites, or for affiliates to syndicate news from their partner sites, etc. Almost all Blogs and Web Sites have RSS Feeds these days. Unfortunately there are some more unscrupulous people who use these to plagiarize or steal content, just like people used to Hot-Link to your pictures and videos to steal your bandwidth.

• And this is why we can't have nice things! You know, it's beyond a simple contrivance to block the IPs of those sites from accessing your RSS Feed or even your Website. Any good SysAdmin or WebAdmin worth their salt should be able to write a single line REWRITE Rule to send them elsewhere when they attempt to access your RSS Feed/Website or to add them to the IPTables of your Web Server to block them entirely. (I have to do such for my @3000 clients on a daily basis.)
