• What a arrogant ass...the police were more than tolerant with him I think.

• The cops probably didn't treat him like shit because they were in a good mood. I've been pulled over by a cop in a good mood and one in a bad mood and there is a difference. Something I don't understand. When the cops say that you are free to leave, get out of there. Don't take it as a sign you've been granted immunity and now have a platform.

• You could be right, Saint, though I've seen videos before where officers just put up with unmerciful shit and maintained their cool. So I think a lot of it has to do with the individual officer and what he's dealing with that day. But I think you're right: They're gonna give extra benefit to this guy. I'm sure they didn't want to tase his ass, but the guy asked for it.

• Sure Pete, don't get me wrong, their actions in this case were calm and collected..I just think had the guy been anyone other than someone in a similar profession as theirs, they would have likely beat his ass and sprayed him the minute he started popping off. So to an extent it's probably one of those double standard things in which a typical Citizen Joe would'nt have fared as well.IMHO

• I think one of the reasons we're paying so much overtime for cops is because we expect them to take the verbal abuse and stalling for as long as possible. We want them to stick it out for as long as the abuser feels like ranting. Just because they're police, they're expected to TAKE IT when they are called filthy slurs and no one sticks up for their civil rights or harangues the offender for being a hostile racists spewing hatred. (I can't hear the audio right now, I don't know why, so I don't know what the drunk keeps spewing at the officers in this particular case but I am thinking of lots of other cases.) They're human beings too. Fellow citizens. Who have much nicer and better places to be and people to see and things to do. I know the overtime money is sweet, but, I'm tired of paying it and I'd rather they go home and have a nice evening with their family. So it wouldn't bother me one bit for them to use the Taser a little sooner.

• I think it's actually kind of bullsh?t that the police pacified him repeatedly, and showed him so much special consideration based on his "position". You can even hear the cop (in the background) saying "We know what you do Barry, and we respect what you do"...which is what exactly? Driving drunk and being a potential danger to innocent people on the road, when he's not acting like a drill Sargeant for groups of convicted thugs? It's clear by his attitude that he's arrogant and assumes himself to possess a higher degree of authority than others, some might argue that was just his drunkeness talking, but I think (for the most part) when people are intoxicated they tend to act more openly on attitudes that already existed within them, they just have less caution, and social restraints because the "courage in a bottle" empowers them. It's also Ironic that he was blaming the police for "putting his career on the line". it indicates his inability to see fault within himself for his stupid actions. I hope he gets a paycut or even demotion.
