Video: Pissed Off Chef Decides to Trash His Kitchen, Terrorize Workers

• @Sanelia: I have heard that some chefs can be prima donnas. I thought it was mainly hamming for the cameras on these "reality" shows, but from what I am gathering here it sounds like it may happen in real life not infrequently. I would sure hate to have to work for someone who was that high strung and narcissitic. Oh wait, I did. That is why I quit my last job and he was fired not too long afterward :-)

• the sous chef I mentioned. he also kept all the vaction slips for the kitchen, in his desk. so if you needed one. you had to personally ask the guy for a slip. and he would argue with you on why you needed it. most of the times he would refuse to give them out. . this dude also one time was wearing a bandage. and it slipped off into the soup the chef was working on. it was found later by a customer. . he also expected all the underlings to move into a 2 mile area around the Mall. this way, they would be more accessable to work at the restaurant. thing is, the rent around the MoA is some of the highest in the metro. he refused to listen to any thing against his commands. . both my man and me still are wishing we had been flies on the wall. when I had just given birth by C section. and the dude went to human resources to find a way to force my man back to work. we wish we could have not only seen his face when he was told that my man had up to 12 weeks family time off. that my man could NOT be forced back to work. . also, during the MoA's ten year aniversary. there was a party for all the folks who had worked there for the entire time. the sous chef was trying his hardest to keep my man from being a guest at the party. this jerk even told the guy who was in charge that night. NOT to let my man go. both guys knew that my man was one of the guests. but the sous chef hated when when one of his underlings had something special to do outside the restaurant. to the sous chef, the only life everyone else but him was to have, was the restaurant. to the sous chef the only one that was to have a outside life, was the sous chef. . lets just say that when that sous chef returned back to work. he reamed the dude a new one. the dude that had been in charge that night for letting my man attend the party that he was a guest at. my man had started at the place BEFORE the MoA even opened up. training on what menu items were to be cooked and how. . last we heard of the dude. his job was to order the food to be sold at a grocery store in the southern metro.

• I used to work as a chef and I do sympathise {not sure that's the right word} with sangelia. I witnessed this type of behaviour in the kitchens ,it's all too common and quite frankly i'm disgraced by the idiots that do this type of sh@t ,I felt like lashing out like the guy towards the end of the clip but in reality you would be sacked probably .So ,sadly as they have superiority ,allot of these morons {chefs}{never did get the title ,I can knock up a gourmet meal with one arm tied behind my back ,it doesn't take a genius}} take it upon themselves to behave in this way ,bringing blight ,misery ,stress e.t.c to others around them. As the saying goes 'there are a few bad apples in every barrel'' and there are many nice chefs out there but in general when it comes to chefs 'there are a few good apples in a barrel of bad ones'. It's a pitty this is the way it is and I've viewed it with my own eyes ,Food whether eating it ,cooking it ,hunting it or anything else ,is a natural thing and for me it should be a pleasurable time for everyone ,when this natural pleasure is disturbed it goes against the grain. Places of work {it was for me ,but the bad apples didn't work they did something like the man in the clip} BROWNS HOTEL ,LONDON CLARIDGES HOTEL ,LONDON SERPENTINE RESTAURANT {PRUE LEITH] ,LONDON PIED DE TERRE [RICHARD NEAT] ,LONDON CHURCHILL HOTEL ,LONDON BANK RESTAURANT ,TONY ALLAN HYDE PARK HOTEL ,LONDON INN ON THE PARK ,LONDON To name a few. As you might of guessed ,I feel quite strongly about this issue and quite rightly so ,as a man of experience I know that to create good food you don't need to loose your rag like this ,for me it doesn't even come into the aquasion .Perhaps one day i'll have my own place {optimist} and there will be none of this sh@t. Let me give you an example of the bad attitude within the catering trade I was at the Chiurchill hotel {berkley square} ,cooking breakfasts ,five star establishment ,nice food ,sometimes complicated but me and my partner had it sust and down to a T ,five years past and my partner retired ,did they get a replacement ,no of course not ,drag one of the members of the brigade in on my day off {always someone different so they never gained any experience} ,I always returned from my day off with hell to pay ,nothing where it should be e.t.c. ,the chef knew it would pressure me and it was bad management ,ok thats a bit of an off topic but the plot thickens ,a couple of years later ,a new head chef comes {james pressly currently working at the hampshire ,leicester square ,perhaps i'll pay him a visit ,to be honest i didn't give much admiration to his food ,perhaps that's why he's no longer at the churchill} ,so he starts telling me how to cook this and that a bit differently to what i'd been doing over the years ,as a man who strives for perfection and had been doing this section for seven years I thought perhaps i knew better but I played along with the man ,in reality it wasn't the case and nothing was better .One morning I was doing my thing ,catering for 700+ customers {single handed ,down to the poor management} and along comes our friend {mr pressly} ,we got into a disagreement about something ,I knew that doing things his way would drop myself into it but it was just a disagreement and I played along with him {didn't want to get fired} ,later that day I was told to report to HS department ,basically mr pressly had made up a story that i'd put a knife to his throat and threatened the guy {what a load of sh@t} ,so to cut a long story short I was out of a job ,which i'd done very well for seven years because of this guys bitchiness who had been there all of 2/3 weeks .That's just an example of not just the physical abuse but the mental abuse that is all so common in the trade ,sadly there are many more examples like this I could give but I wont go on ,there was the time when Richard Neat practically through me out of his kitchen and out on the street with no payment for a days hard graft because the shallot wasn't cut finely enough ,at this time i'd just finished a two year cordon bleu cookery course and this was my first job! These days I enjoy food ,cooking at home and being creative ,despite the times where some peeps like the one in the clip spoil things ,I look back on the career positively.

• my man worked as a cook at a sit down for nearly 15 years. the last Sous chef he got stuck working under had a temper. but but at least the Sous chef did not get as bad as this one. though he would get really hot under the collar if you mentioned the name of the previous Sous chef. or were talking about someone else with the same name as the previous one. at least in this one. the male coworkers made sure the women were safe. by getting between the gals and the one with the temper. wonder what set him off. a kitchen worker wanting their vacation time?

• FYI, I love the food channel, whether this is on there or not. Just saying. =)
