• Ancestry? No. Skin Color? Oh yes. Weren't they termed as "Sand Niggers" at some point? Isn't all American racism now simply a derivative of any shade of brown? Far as I have seen there are more colorful terms for Blacks/Mexicans/Indians/Native Americans'/Japanese/Taiwanese/Korean/Vietnamese/Italian(light light brown)/Jewish(sometimes/often white but still brown by nature)/African(seperate from Blacks) Need I go on? If you're not white, sorry, at some point you're going to be put down in one way or another, that's just how it goes ya know, scientifically maybe it's that certain white people can only see in a certain array of colors and, like bulls(bull's actually don't HATE the color red, this is a myth) with Red when they see brown shit's just gotta go down. Who knows *shrugs* I certainly don't see many colorful terms for even Germans and the ones' I HAVE seen seem to have some elusive tie to "Brown people." Oh! Oh! Maybe its' that when you're a shade of brown you're like a descendant from some evil race of aliens! Yeah! Just saying. For instance, did you know there were NO plans for building a Mosque on Ground Zero and that it was ACTUALLY going to be a community center that EVERY faith could practice in if they chose to and, in truth, it wasn't even going to BE at the site but a few blocks away? Oh oh, or wait, when that was found out it was "still wrong" right, well how about you get out a map and point to an area. Wait wait, don't Fox News believe there should be a seperation of Church and State that the State shouldn't bother in religious affairs and vice-versa, oh that's right, that's only if your CHRISTIAN! Who owns Fox news and what religion does he belong to? In fact doesn't he have ties to...oh no, I think I've said too much on that one, ooooh, there's a few inconsistencies. Or maybe I should bring up the fact that they're just brown people and they "deserve it" like they always do because they kinda look like the people who hurt us on 9/11. Oh but that's not fair, is it? We're doing it because of their RELIGION, so maybe we should do what Fox News is asking from the GOVERNMENT and to have our GOVERNMENT step in and "give them hell" for having the audacity to build a community center that just has about one room for prayer(if wished but not enforced) for the local community to pray in, of which its' not just THEIR faith but...well that's saying too much. • guess no one remembers pearl harbor and the actions that happened afterwards. Anyone who looked oriental was "arrested" and sent to camps. Didn't matter if they were from Japan, or anywhere in the Orient. Most were 1st and 2nd generations Americans and were born here. So this isn't a "new" thing. As for Fox News...? I got a better idea! I don't watch ANY news unless i'm looking for a story that i interested me. I hate the news. it's all doom and gloom. So i come here for interesting stories.

• Its funny cause a friend and I were talking about the september 11th anniversary coming up.Back in 2001 when that was going on a local guy from india that owns and runs a local store had his home broken into and all kinds of Iran Iraq names and threats spray painted on his walls. He is from India for goodness sake and he and his wife and kids lived here for years. Why attack someone in defense of something so unrelated to them? To vent frustration? Well these are the wrong avenues.It sucks that some people are so way out of line.

• Wow how weird, hubby and I were just talking about this kind of stuff happening yesterday. We were talking about the Sikh that was murdered at the gas station in Mesa, AZ. We were talking about religion and stuff and we had been talking about moving to Phoenix but I told him I was worried because he is Pakistani. He isn't Muslim but people don't usually think about the fact that some may not be. They think oh he looks look a Muslim so lets kill him and that really scares me. Anyway, @Mark, I understand how you feel and after 9/11 and all the hate crimes, I felt the exact same way. I was embarrassed to be American, so I moved to London after marrying my husband (who is British) and I was always embarrassed to admit I was American because I was ashamed of the stuff some of the people were doing. It didn't help that generally speaking, the British hate Americans. I had so many things said to me it was unreal but some people were just intrigued and asked me questions about America. After being away for awhile though I got a fresh perspective and realized there are a lot of great things about our country too. Alexa is right, you shouldn't feel that way because of some of the idiots that do dumb shit. Not all Americans are like that. Usually, the ones who are tend to be the uneducated, uncultured ones (of course this isn't always the case though). Hate is usually down to ignorance and fear. Please try to remember the good about our country and just make sure you do your part not to act like this. That is all you can do in the end. I love the diversity of our country. In regards to the Glenn Beck/fox news issue going on here - I don't like Glenn Beck and I feel he is racist and yes Fox News does promote a right wing agenda, but seriously, are there any news organizations that are left that don't push an agenda? I don't think I have found one. I generally just read my news online now and I usually try to read the same story from multiple sources to get all angles. We certainly cannot trust to get an unbiased one from anywhere. I don't personally believe in political parties myself. I take that kind of stuff on a case by case basis. I don't believe in always voting for one party, I think you should vote for whatever or whoever you feel is right or right for the job. As such, I don't really want to hear slanted views from news outlets. I want to get the facts and leave it at that because I am capable to form my own beliefs on things. Anyway, in regards to the actual story, I agree he got off a lot easier than many did after 9/11. I hope the idiot perp gets justice served to him though. It is NOT ok to go around performing random acts of violence on people based on what they believe, let alone what you THINK they believe.

• I feel I have to say one more thing here, in response to Bob33. I agree that both FOX and all the others, as that's how it seems to be portrayed here so far, have their own place in our seemingly never ending supply of "news" outlets. But there is one thing I don't hear too many people say and its a shame. John Stewart may be a satirist by trade by virtue of being a stand up comedian, but even though the things he says are funny they are most often true. But that's in the make up of comedy. Its all in the exaggeration. Its about the absurd and the sublime. After he makes me laugh he makes me go "WTF?!?!" He makes light of politics but the problems he points out are real. Its sad to say, but I trust more of what I hear from Stewart, Maddow, Olberman, and hell even Tucker Carlson then I do from White House Press briefings.

• I am so damn tired of hearing about the "liberal" media. The "liberal" media was a term coined by way too right conservatives and their collective sycophants too long ago. The "liberal" media hasn't been 'liberal" for a long time now. Until everyone realizes that this country is not liberal v. conservative but them v. us we will me mired in these meaningless debates. It's not about cons and liberals or reps and dems its the money makers and the movers and shakers pulling the strings and feeding the teeming masses what they want us to hear.

• You don't like Fox News? Blame the liberal dinosaur media, who face extinction as I type this. They, not Fox, are the epitomes of bias and propaganda. They almost never showed both sides of stories during their monopoly of electronic and print "journalism". They shaped their news presentations to fit their political, economic, social, and racial views. Fox News, which, admittedly, has a conservative tone, became equal time for the millions of Americans who were ignored by the slanted semi-leftist news outlets. Fox News also shows both sides of issues much more than the irrelevant propaganda organs ever did. The old guard showed contempt and disdain for the majority of Americans, and they then watched their profits and ratings go down the drain. What was their response? They attacked the Tea Party in obviously underhanded ways. Thus, they meet the cliched definition of insanity: do the same things that lead to failure and expect different results. They are rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic while falsely accusing their opponents of bigotry. They made their bed. How long will it be before Newsweek is sold..again? How is Time's subscribtion rate these days? It's also absurd and ridiculous to say that Glenn Beck is a racist. He's a bit too much of a drama king for my tastes, but he puts Colbert and Stewart (both obviously biased against conservatives) to shame when it comes to bringing forth topics of historical and political substance, although I do enjoy much of what the biased comedians do during their predictable routines. They're quite good at what they do (seriously). As for Keith Olbermann, he's a devil-worshipping communist who finances dog fights. That was sarcasm, of course. It shows what the anti-conservative hyperbole sounds like to fair and honest people.

• Sangelia Mormonism is a cult derived from Christianity. And when I say that I refer to the root word "occult" which merely means hidden. Mormonism, like other cults, has many rituals and beliefs which are known only to its adherents or people who have studied it. To me Mormonism shares a lot of similarites with Islam: Joseph Smith and Mohammed both started out with a small circle of religious adherents. They moved on to limited success as political leaders-where Joseph Smith ended up getting killed by a lynch mob. Brigham Young continued on-moving out to a desert kingdom as a succesful warlord of sorts (ie Mountain Meadows Massacre, etc) much like Mohammed. The main problem Mormons and Muslims seem to have, however, is when basic tenents of their faith conflict with the US Constitution. The Mormons gave up plural marraige as a mainstream belief in order for Utah to gain statehood. I guess it will be interesting to see Sharia struggle with the Rule of Law. • Actually, Christians are, in fact, Pagans, you forgot THAT fact as well. Mormonism is its' own religion, to identify a Mormon specifically as a christian is quite offensive to both sides, in fact there were CHRISTIANS who protested Glenn Beck because they believed he was carrying too much on the Christian Banner(this wasn't actually true). Although both have identical beliefs' they stem in that Mormons' believe that Christ actually HAS come again and that there WAS another prophet(Joseph Smith), whether you believe this or not is Moot as Mormonism has become one of the fastest growing religions' around(you'd be surprised, look it up) and have NOTHING to do with the Christian church, at all.

That is true, he DOES remind others' that his feelings are his own(as are his opinions) yet in that he does not also offer his audience an alternative, nor does he allow others' a fair argument on the basis of his logic. THIS is the true problem with Fox News, both as News and as opinion. Even in Left Leaning agendas' there are still news outlets where the two sides are presented, even amongst John Stewart(even if you believe he's sattire, as I do, he still tends to report things quite well) he has actually been stunned and flabbergasted, he does not interrupt or yell "NO! You're WRONG and let ME tell YOU how it is!" in fact he debated with them fairly. Fox News(nor any of their right-leaners') does not do this and supports left-bashing without opinion and in ALL of the Right Leaning News stations I have seen(arguably not ALL of them) I have never once seen a Right-Leaner start bashing his hands on the table or screaming to interrupt the opponent, neither have I seen them focus on more controversial representatives of any given argument, in fact often the debates end up with a "take from it what you will and make it your own" kind of ending. Do I hate Fox News? No, despite my own feelings its' more that I pity them if anything else.

• @Dylan actually Mormoms ARE Christians. you FORGOT their main name - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. that is like saying those who belong to the UCC sect. along with the RC, or even the Amish sects are not Christians either. they just have different ways of worship. some that we tend to get upset about. but still they are Christians. though they could get with the times and realize that being a teen is too young to get married at. it isnt the same world as when Mary at the old age of 13 got pregnant with Jesus.

• Fox news HAS actually stated what Rando has said, they HAVE told their viewers' when they are news and when they are opinion. This of course does not change the fact that they often report "Opinions previously stated during opinion time" as "News during News time". As for Glenn Beck being a satirist, yes, perhaps at one time he was but he no longer is now but I do agree on the whole that people take him WAY too seriously. In that I do not personally BLAME Glenn Beck for what comes as a result of him so much as I Judge him for his own words and actions, regardless of how you feel this is how he ACTUALLY feels now, he's not just stating satire but what he feels are truth and facts and he is being FOLLOWED by others' whom he has convinced he is telling the truth. Also, Fox is irresponsible on this point as they do not make it clear when certain programs are sattire/opinion vs. news leaving the viewer to wonder if they're talking out of their ass. Beyond this, John Stewart and Stephen Colbert ARE satire, that's the premise of their SHOW, yet, even so, they manage to promote MORE news and more ACCURATE news than Fox/CNN and all the rest(with the exception of BBC and its' iterations) as to why this is I do not know but mayhap it is easier for an audience to receive information when it isn't given so heavily and is able to be laughed at(in its' absurdity sometimes). Glenn Beck IS entitled to his opinion, whether I agree or not and I would never argue with that but I WOULD argue that he is irresponsible and if you truly believe he is a satirist then he is even MORE irresponsible as people ARE taking him seriously. Let me put it this way, there was an Audience member in Stephen Colberts' show at one time(might be on youtube) who stood up in support of what he BELIEVED was Stephen Colberts' real persona, he'd actually believed the satire being stated and, being responsible, Stephen Colbert BROKE his character to inform the audience member that the show was NOT his personal feelings but SATTIRE and that the audience should not take any of some of his extreme views seriously, its' not what its' there for. If Glenn Beck IS, as you say, Sattire then he needs to break character to tell people that because there are a great DEAL many people who seem to believe he's telling some divine truth.

• John McGurk is right. Glen Beck is not usually a satirist, although he appears to frequently use satire. Yeah, I decided to watch him a few times at least to see if he really was the racist, hate-monger so many seem to think he is.... and I have to say, not so much. I realize it's trendy to bash Fox News these days, and their audience let's not forget, but so far, honestly, they're pretty obvious when they're pushing their right leaning agenda but, again, just as honestly, all the other news outlets, and they are far more numerous than the lone Fox, they are pushing their left leaning agendas. Crass capitalism reigns. BTW, Beck appears to remind his viewers that he is not a journalist, he's just an opinion guy. Or so I saw when I dropped in to check him out.

• Lets clear something up right now. Glen Beck is not a satirist. John Stewart is a satirist. Stephen Colbert is a satirist. The people who do political cartoons for the Sunday papers are satirists. Glen Beck is a hate mongering, propaganda spewing, pandering douche bucket. As are most of the persons, and I use that term loosely, at FOX News. I don't recall any programming notes describing at which times FOX "News" runs actual "news" and when they broadcast opinion. Maybe they should change the name of the channel from FOX News to FOX we make a large portion of this shit up to further Rupert Murdoch's agenda.

• Glen Beck is a satirist, everything he says is SUPPOSED to be taken as a joke. Glen Beck himself admitted this many times on his show when it was just starting out. I don't know if he actually became a real journalist but he is not and I emphasize NOT a real journalist, remember Fox News only reports ACTUAL news between 8-12 am and between 2-5 pm(I'm not sure if these are the exact times but you can go to Fox's website and read it for yourself). Glen Beck, Bill O'Reilly, and even Sean Hannity report ONLY their opinion of the news, that is it! The problem is people who take these opinion commentators seriously, which is sadly VERY often.

• I've listened(and watched) Glenn Back, I even tolerate him(he makes me laugh sometimes) and "I" am of the opinion that he is a racist, intolerant a-hole. Then, I think I'm entitled to that opinion, and that isn't even counting his recent speech. He was better when he was just a drunk dj. And I happen to LIKE most Mormons. And note, Glenn Beck is NOT a Christian, he's a Mormon, k? He wrote a BOOK called "An Unlikely Mormon". He was a Drunkard before he converted(this is all stuff HE talks about) and an abuser of other fine substances. Glenn Back having an opinion is hypocritical of the stances he takes and he hasn't once even admitted that. So there ya go, Mormon, Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1999 when he was going through "hard times". • I have a couple of thoughts here: @ padrake: I have listened, (albeit not frequently), to Glen Beck, he is not a hater. Perhaps you could educate yourself and actually listen to his radio program. Incidentally, I am not a conservative or a fundamentalist Christian. YOU need to develop tolerance of other folks, even if their point of view is different than yours. Secondly: As to Mr. Stainbrook...he is not a real American. Americans TOLERATE differences of opinion and religion and etc. After all, it is the very first amendment to our constitution.

• Don't be ashamed to be American, Mark. We are mostly a very good people. How else would a nation such as ours be such a shining beacon? Hey, we can't control everyone. The occasional glaring flaw, intensified as it were by alcohol or other substances, will be what it will be. We are made up of a wide variety of people from around the globe and if they are each a shining example of what their genetics can provide, then that is the beauty and magic of America. If those who come here value the principle of the rule of law. Equal protection under the law is all that separates us from the savages of 7th Century forms of theocracies and the Tower of London and the French Revolution. • at least THIS Sikh is alive. unlike at least eight, if not more, that was killed by some. with in a very short time after 9/11. like the one killed in Mesa, AZ at a gas station. two of them in TX by the same dude. not at the same time. a Sikh killed by being shot in the head as he waited for the lights to turn. in CA also one Coptic Christian was killed. because he was of Egyptian ancestry. as well as there being alot of vandalism towards anyone that looked like they were of Arabic ancestry. as well as those who wear turbans. a third gen American born lady of the Sikh religion went about the country to make a documentary. she also included what happened to a Sikh who lives in NYC. he is a surgeon who, while walking with his friend, was shouted at to go home.
