• This story is very sad...as the grandfather of two great kids, the thought of his little broken arm and his inability to crawl around after it healed on it's own breaks my heart. I have no clue as to how someone can do this to any toddler; let alone their own flesh and blood. I've been a surrogate twice, and an egg donor three times, this is absolutely not true. You get a portion of the money every month during the pregnancy, the rest at delivery. Additionally you get money for other things such as gas to and from doctors visits, any out of pocket costs you might have, and fees for any procedures that are above and beyond normal. An example is an amnio or a c-section. The parentage is established prior to the child ever being born (in court) so that the parents are listed as on the birth certificate. There is a long contract done prior to ever attempting pregnancy that clearly states the surrogate is not related and cannot keep the child for any reason. There is no "keeping a deformed baby" clause, there is no clause of the surro ever keeping the child, quite the opposite. There are both state and federal laws that protect intended parents and surrogates. The only way a surrogate might not get the entire fee is if she purposely harmed the baby such as drinking alcohol. If the child is born with fetal alcohol syndrome the parents can sue her for purposefully causing that injury. Short of that, there is nothing else. They do extensive prenatal screening for "deformities" and problems, just as with any pregnancy. The fee is put into an escrow account at the time the contract is signed and cannot be touched by the intended parents. It is paid out as per the contract. The average fee is between 20-40 thousand dollars for a pregnancy plus incidentals. (such as maternity clothes, if there is multiple fetuses such as twins which is common with IVF, travel costs if the surrogate needs to go out of town for any treatment) If your daughter was told that then she obviously did not contact an actual attorney or agency. My guess is she went online and asked on some forum and people just wrote what they thought was an answer without knowing a single thing about it. The increase of need for surrogates stems from the fact women are waiting longer to have children, thus missing their most fertile years because they were busy going to school/building a career and making something of themselves.

Their own parents failed to raise them to become responsible, nurturing adults before they were old enough to breed. So, when these children had sex and got priggers (and again and again and again), they were unprepared emotionally and mentally even though they were physically ready for child-rearing. This is sad, and no good will come of this no matter how it plays out in Court. Either she will face time for the horrific thing she has done, and her 3 other children will become condemned to a life being wards of the State, or if the hammer doesn't fall on her the 3 other children will be condemned to a future of potential abuse at the hands of their own inept baby-momma. Either way, it is tragic.

• MA welfare laws are getting really hard. For the past 5 or 6 yrs. If you are on public assistance, you are only allowed 2 kids on it. Meaning, you can have a football team and still only recieve funds for the 1st 2. You will get food stamps and medical. But limited dental and no money. They will pay for prenatal visits but not for delivery of any child after the 2nd one. Seems our lovely welfare moms protested and said it wasn't fair to force them to tie tubes. Said violated their rights. So welfare said ok, but we aint paying for any child after number 2. And they (the mothers) have up to 2 yrs to be off welfare thru working or moving. after 2 yrs, they are SOL for cash. And if you leave welfare for work, but not completed your 2 yrs, if you need welfare again, the clock starts again where it was stopped. With the fact she gave up a 9 month old and is preg again (to me that means she is a whore!) kinda points to the welfare child cap, but also to a new(old) thing going thru MA right now.
