HIV-Postive Air Force Sergeant Arrested for Having Unprotected Sex at Swinger Parties

• you are not automatically medically discharged for having HIV in the military anymore.you are giving the option of staying in or taking the discharge.If you chose to stay in you can continue your career but you cannot do overseas assignments...only difference.HIV is not a automatic death sentence like it was in the 80"s and 90"s .You can live 20-30 years with HIV.and its manageable if you take your meds and live a healthy lifestyle.Hepatitis is worse than HIV and will kill you faster so will diabetes which is why if you have either of these two diseases you automatically get medically discharged from the military

• Shouldn't his wife be in legal trouble too? She was aware of his behavior while it was going on and did nothing but stop it. Hell, if he told her about his adventures repeatedly, wouldn't that indicate that she approved of his actions? She should be in some kind of legal hot water as well.

• Unless protocol are changed members of the armed forces are tested once a year for HIV. I do not know why he was not medically discharged. Anybody? There is some expectation that if there are mass casualties and there is not enough stored plasma that members of the armed forces will give direct transfusions to other unit members. Is this no longer operative? Is it okay to have population of people who engage in high risk sex and /or very promiscuous (like swingers or people on shore leave in a foreign port)?
