• I knew someone who said he had done this before the internet age. He said he wouldn't do it again. In his case I believe him. I have heard reports of this happening in the last year or town in my local area. If I had more to go on, I'd report it to take people down a peg.

• Just some background that others might need to gain a better understanding of this situation (which I was lacking myself until Dude kindly pointed out that this was the infamous Scene King of Idaho, John Hock...whom I didn't recognize from the picture because he was missing his signature Emo Hair, Makeup, and Bondage Pants): The accused and the victim both were both Scene Kids...overly melodramatic micro-celebrities on Stickam. They would routinely push the boundaries of better judgment and good taste to outdo one another and boost their Stickam ratings. For those unfamiliar with Stickam (run by an infamous pornographer and suspected pedophile), it is basically a Social Site like MySpace or Facebook with Cam Channels where RealityTV takes a whole different dimension as people try to outdo one another as they broadcast live from their WebCam. It routinely involves young teens appearing naked (remember Jessie Slaughter, the 11 year old Cam-Whore from last month...she was on Stickam too). Most of the people who viewed the Rape live were under the assumption that it was just another attempt for attention/ratings and was entirely staged (which considering the people involved and the melodramatic shenanigans they have both done before there is indeed the likelihood that it was entirely planned and staged). Where culpability starts to erode is that the accused is a pedophile and has been charged with Statutory Rape before (and this victim was entirely aware of this). Likewise, the victim was aware of what kinds of things the accused tended to do on Stickam, as she had done similar over-the-top things on her Stickam channel. Thirdly, she had been warned by the accused's Ex-GF and chose to ignore that sage advice. Lastly, the victim is currently facing charges for Statutory Rape as well in another case. So basically, the victim was no angel, knew what she was getting herself into, and was willing part to the drama in general. Yes, she was raped, and John Hock is a dirty bastard that deserves what he gets, but if she wasn't a willing participant when it happened she at least knew the risks and chose to put herself in that situation any way. Most of all, it is hard to give her sympathy when she stands accused of having committed a similar crime of Statutory Rape herself. So, conclusion is that John Hock probably got off easy because of his victim's complicity to some extent. He certainly deserves far worse than he got considering some of the things this guy has done in his past and will likely do again in the future. However, his victim isn't an innocent in all of this either and was either putting herself in that situation for the drama-ratings to boost her own micro-celebrity status, or in the least knew what to expect from her decision. She isn't entirely innocent or necessarily deserving of sympathy either.

• Did I miss something? There is no indication of an "attempt", I would say he was successful. I can't believe he got attempted anything. He raped her.

• This pisses me off so much. When I was 17 I was sexually assualted by a guy and a couple of his friends while I was passed out at a "friend's" house. Unfortunately I didn't remember a thing the next day and didn't find out about it until years later. By then there was nothing I could do about it. I didn't know exactly who did what to me and I no longer had contact with anyone I hung out with at that time. It sickens me to know that this goes on so often. Cowardly little boys taking advantage of a weak unsuspecting girl. I know how that girl feels and it's not a pretty feeling. It's a violated, disgusted, self loathing feeling that takes a while to go away. It's worse for her, I assume because it was viewed online by God knows how many people.
