Weird Teacher Watch: Ashley Herre-Bagwell Nurtures Students' Bi-Curiosity

You'd hate to be Ashley Herre-Bagwell's husband after the 10th grade teacher was arrested for coming onto three students. If they were boys, at least he could rationalize his age-related loss of virility, but teenage girls? How do you compete with that? Herre-Bagwell's carpet-hungry ways make her the star of this week's Weird Teacher Watch...
The 29-year-old East Millsboro, Pennsylvania teacher was apparently all about forsaking meat for some fish. She told all three girls she came onto that they were pretty and that she loved them -- employing that old male standby to ease back their defenses. She even told one that she'd "never go back to her boyfriend" once they had sex. ("Once you go muff, you can't get enough.")
She allegedly told the girls that she was bisexual and had been practicing since high school. (Practice makes perfect.) Herre-Bagwell, who had been a teacher at Monessen High School for six years, drew the girls in by talking to them after school. She shared intimate details from her life, and exchanged phone numbers before professing an attraction and "feelings" for them in flirtatious texts, which led to her suggesting they have sex.
Both a fifteen year old and a sixteen year old reported the same m.o. When Herre-Bagwell told the 16-year old she loved her, the teen felt compelled to say it back "because she didn't want to make the teacher sad." (Gosh, she doesn't sound desperate at all.) She said they texted for a month before Herre-Bagwell suggested they have sex, and she told her to stop, it made her uncomfortable.
A third girl, also 16, admitted to having a physical relationship with Herre-Bagwell. They kissed on two occasions in her locked classroom, and moved onto touching through clothing. When the girl told her the relationship wasn't "right" because she was her teacher, Herre-Bagwell agreed it was wrong, but said it didn't matter because she was in love with her.
One mother's discovery of more than a hundred texts to her daughter led to Herre-Bagwell's arrest. But not immediately. Apparently the mother contacted the teacher and warned her to stop the texts and phone calls or she'd notify school officials. But she didn't stop. She was asking for it, so to speak.
