Crystal Cardenas Sadistically Beat Her 9-Year-Old Daughter for 17 Months

It took Elizabeth four days to die from a bruised pancreas and battered intestines after being kicked and punched in the stomach by her mom
​Yet an autopsy would reveal this was more than a scooter fall. Detectives discovered that since the girl had come to live with Cardenas in San Diego 17 months before, she'd been brutally beaten the entire time.

​Cardenas had choked, punched, kicked, burned and thrown the little girl to the ground. Elizabeth even told her 7-year-old sister that she was likely to die.

That proved true in late January. This time, police say, Cardenas had kicked and punched Elizabeth in the stomach. She would be dead within days. An autopsy revealed that she had a bruised pancreas and battered intestines.

The girl died a slow and painful death, vomiting and losing feeling in the lower half of her body.

Cardenas is now in jail on a $2 million bond, and neighbors haven't taken kindly to the news of her abuse. Someone spray painted "baby killer" on her car. (Special thanks to Pennsylvania Bureau Chief Captain America for the tip.)
