Faleh Almaleki Gets 34 Years for Running Over Daughter in Honor Killing

This has been all over the news since his trial began here.. It irritates the crap out of me to hear the news and read the papers to have them all report the story the same way "Man on trial for honor killing" WTF is so honorable about killing his daughter!!!! There's nothing honorable about what he did!!! The headlines should read "Raghead on trial for killing his daughter"!!!! Now that he has been sentenced, they need to ship his entire family, wife included, back to their precious raghead country!!!!!!!!

I am for the most part against religious or cultural rights infringement but in cases such as this honestly I think there should be laws and limits (before people are murdered by their parents for doing what is their right to do here). Some practices are completely against the spirit of the life of and what it means to be an American and I really believe this type of situation is one of those.

I wish that these girls could somehow "know" and not go back to see their family but I understand how hard that would be and I understand why they are lured back.

What I don't get is, a young girl moving to the US and becoming Americanized is dishonorable to her family, but killing your own child is not?!?

I dont understand why some people move to the U.S and get upset when their children become "Americanized'' what do they expect?? Just like that father who was a cab driver and shot his two daughters because they were too "Americanized"/Westernized. I dont get it. May this poor girl rest in peace.

Doesn't immigration ask these people any questions when they come into this country - to make sure they're not extremists and terrorists? Probably not. They probably never come out and ask them if they're planning on bombing, killing and maiming people. They ought to ask them if they think America is the big satan or if they're planning on forcing their daughters back to their countries of origin to arranged marriages or to genital mutilation. But that would probably be considered not politically correct!!!

This poor woman trying to live her life and her father trying to run it. Very sad indeed.

I wish they would leave their crazy customs where they came from. Why come here if you can't adapt? If I move to another country I would learn their language and adopt or live with their way of life.

I am so sorry this young woman had to suffer so much! She couldn't trust her own father, and even the brother and mother were in on luring her back to the home so the honor killing could take place. It is good that he was caught, tried and convicted!!! Think twice before you kill for "honor" in America. It is NOT okay here! You will go to jail, and you should!

This is wrong on so many levels. That beautiful woman died because she tried to live her life the way she wanted. And at the hands of her father to boot. Sad.

34.5 years... that's a long time to think about what an asshole you are, and a failure as a father and a human being.

I remember when this happened. Really sad, really messed up. This guy is going to have fun in prison. He won't be able to hook up with the Aryans, the AA brothers or the Mexicans for help. That's going to be one big target out there. I wonder what he thinks about his honor now?
