"I know the family of Damian Ruston. I was also at the party Damian and Jasmin had attended the night she murdered him.
"The ONLY reason she killed him was because he broke up with her. It's total BS that Jasmin Cotter won't spend a day in prison for what she did, especially since she told a judge during arraignment and several other people that she hit Damian on purpose and that she wasn't sorry she did it.
"In fact, when his best friend went to the Pontotoc County jail to tell her that Damian had passed away, the only thing she had to say was "Well fuck....guess i'm spending the rest of my life in prison." No remorse at all.
"I don't understand how you can just take someone's life because you're throwing a childish tantrum. I don't know what was going through the father's mind when he asked the judge for leniency for his son's killer. But I do know that he did it against the wished of every other member of Damian Ruston's family."

I used to work with Jasmine Cotter and I met Damian once or twice. This article is utter BS in all honesty coming from someone who actually KNOWS her. Jasmine loved Damian so I don't understand why she did what she did but this article is making Jasmine out to be some evil monster. The Ruston Family are actually very kind people and very forgiving. The Ruston Family was more than just his dad forgiving her, it was Damian's mother as well. You need to really know your information before you go posting trash about people. Jasmine Cotter is a good girl, bad in what she did yes, but she truly is sorry and she doesn't need to prove that to ANY of you.
Being a member of "the Ruston family", you're an idiot. His "mother" that you are speaking of didn't have anything to do with "the Ruston family" so yes, the father was the only member that forgave her. So you should really know your info better before posting.

Oh so HE moved himself under the tire, the car wasn't moving? Riiiiight... yeah, happens all the time. I was idling at a stoplight the other day and someone was crossing the street and suddenly they got caught on my tires and recklessly got themselves killed. Silly, silly pedestrians.

The only truth that peopleinglass has written here is that there was in fact a party. The rest of this is just vicious lies that people with no life tell because it is an ecsape from thier own miserable existance. There are many details that did not go public. Perhaps the father, the DA and the judge know something that all of you haters don't. Two people were being reckless on the side of the road. Not one but TWO. This is a tragedy but not a murder. Damians blood alcohol level was 4 times higher than Jasmines. He was leaning in the passenger window of the car verbally attacking her. She admits to hitting the gas to get away because she was angry and did not want to fight but NEVER said that she meant to hit him or harm him in any way. The back right tire caught him and pulled him under the car. A witness account and forensics performed at the scene agree with this. Yes it does happen. It is a very tragic case and my heart goes out to all involved. No one wants to except that sometimes we play a role in our own death. They both loved eachother and anyone who knew them was aware of it. They were both reckless. Jasmine is devasted by all of this. This could have happened to any of us who choose to drink and drive and any person behaving recklessly when a car is involved. So get off of your high horse and try to remember all of the close calls you had when you were reckless and then thank God that you and your loved ones made it through. Not everyone is that fortunate.

I was freaking out screaming and crying, it has been 6 months and I still cry every single day. 3. When I got the news about him dying, I flipped out and was bawling my eyes out and didnt eat for days. 4. Damian's dad was on my side because he knows me. He knows how much I love Damian and that I would never intentionally hurt him. By the way, how about these stupid articles start revealing TRUE facts, like the fact that he was beside the car when I went to drive away and it sucked him under. I never just diliberately did it.

Is it me or does it seem like today's youth has no control over themselves? granted i'm young but damn.... i could never just let myself go like that just becuase i'm hurting. maybe the dad wants leanacy so that he can hunt her down later on......that's what i'd do......and they'd never find the body.....
You say "youth today" but I don't know that it's necessarily more common for young people to commit crimes/hurt people than it was in the past. I've been reading a lot of old newspapers lately from small towns. There are a lot of frivolous murders from fights getting out of hand, much of the time among young people.
it does seem that way, I really believe kids today have no home training/manners because they are not taught to have them or respect for other people or even themselves. They are not being taught that there are consequences either, as obviously seen with this story alone.
Just makes me crazy... I mean I know my kids aren't and weren't perfect...no one's are... but you can bet they have respect for themselves and others around them, this seems to be quite lacking... again I owe it to shrinks writing books telling parents to be friends not teachers to their children
I also think that the phenomenon of 'quality and risk' over the past 10-years has taken away a huge portion of responsibility from youth and protected them from the ability to learn by mistake/misfortune. The result is a generation walking blissfully unconcerned through life expecting 'someone else' will deal with any issues and/or protect them from harm/trouble. The simple expedient of teaching kids 'stop...think...act' would help them learn to recognise consequence, develop decision-making and empathy and be more aware of there surroundings.

Basically, I said the same thing on another thread, but because the young girl was raped, it was not responsibility to recognise consequence, develop make a descision and be more aware of her surroundings. She got a pass by ole Mark W and the Vagina Nazi League on here.
