He would also make simulated gestures of oral sex, sexually imply they needed to be disciplined, and was even accused of grabbing one officer's crotch at a party. Yes, he's that guy.
But the women under his command largely put up with it, knowing it's rarely in one's professional interest to bring complaints about the boss.
They didn't decided to come forward until Dhinsa was scheduled to be transferred to the sexual assault squad. Given his hamfisted notions of sexuality, this wouldn't be good for the women of Hamilton.
So they began to register their complaints with the city's version of internal affairs. By the time it was all over, 12 female officers had lodged complaints. And that's when their courage resulted in getting shit on.
Instead of protecting the women who were being harassed, the police union got behind Dhinsa, funding his legal defense while battling the women's claims. Dhinsa soon began to claim that the women were harassing him.
He accused them of flirting, begging him to take them to dinner, and trying to kiss him during a business trip to Ottawa. He also asserted that one of his accusers took off her bra at a party, while another paraded around the station discussing her breasts.
And if he'd said anything wrong at work, he was merely joking to keep the environment light and fluffy.
Eventually, the police board ruled that it couldn't hear the complaints against Dhinsa, since they'd been filed too late under disciplinary rules. Dhinsa was returned to his job as a sergeant.
So the women were forced to take their case before the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario. But while the Hamilton PD did their best to make it go away, it must not have been pleased at the prospect of 12 respected women -- including detectives and undercover officers -- telling the world what a shitbag the good sergeant was.
Before the hearing, the department and Dhinsa reached an undisclosed settlement with the women.
We're not sure what that involves. But it looks like Dhinsa has managed to skate. He's still with the department, and his now on loan to the Canadian Mounties, protecting the fine women of Canada. (Special thanks to reader Tyler for the tip.)

I dated Kevin over twenty years ago when he was a rookie cop and yes he was smooth, and very sexual but I have to be honest and say I'm sure all his attempts to harass these women are simply to overcompensate for the size of his penis.
Speaking as a Canadian: there are WAY more problems with Canadian law enforcement than this guy...If you wanna go deeper, there are more problems with Ontario law enforcement than this guy, if the union (btw, government services should NOT have unions) wants to stand behind him, let them...This guy getting charged won't help policing in Ontario.

Ct, I think women who don't like you and people like us are jealous of the fact that we are not inhibited and sphinctered. And we don't take any shit from people. It intimidates them to be around us. I guess it should.
Hub and I are polar opposites but he will tell you that my directness and non BS ways are what he was first attracted to [after that it was my ass & my eyes]. Your Hub must be attracted to that part of you too but he seems unable to give you the credit you deserve for being who you are. I am just supposing that he is somewhat intimidated by you too.
one of the reasons may have taken these women so long to complain is that police departments are boys clubs. a female officer has to be able to role with the punches. you don't want to be known as "that whiney female" that can't take a joke or be accused of using your gender to get a better position or get out of stuff by complaining. but it's ok to sleep with someone to get into a position.
a female isn't supposed to complain. a female is supposed to laugh and joke right back and is usually expected to be receptive to a guys sexual advances.
sometimes if she isn't then the rumors get started anyway just becuase some asshole couldn't get any and he wants to save face.
sometimes a supervisor is a controlling dickhead that hates women just becuase of her lack of penis. "oh she's just the woman"
female police officers are always supposed to be one of two things, a lesbian or a whore. if she's not a lesbian then she's expected to sleep with half the dept ESPECIALLY her supervisors. AND THE SAD THING IS MOST DO. NOT BECUASE THEY HAVE TO BUT BECUASE THEY WANT TO. if a female doesn't fit into one of the catagory's then she's "wierd" or a "bitch".

The prob is that women like you buy into that mindset. Men cannot make you act and feel and behave any way other that how YOU WANT to behave. Don't blame it on men. That is just weak.
