While Dorothy Cascone wields all the subtle aesthetic pulchritude of a gang rape, that doesn't mean she is without her merits. During divorce proceedings with her husband George, for instance, the Missouri woman played nice, divvying up the marital assets rationally with a smile...
Still, over the ensuing post-divorce decade, Cascone's amicable exterior during the legal proceedings would prove to be a bogus front. For beneath her crushed-with-eyeliner pulchritudinous lurked a greedy and vindictive bee-otch.
Dorothy and George Cascone officially killed their nuptials ten years ago. In their divorce decree, George was awarded a fat amount in money, property and businesses.
Feeling she was a denied a equitable split of the assets, Dorothy began planning her monetary vengeance.
Although George was now her ex-husband, Dorothy took out four life insurance policies on him. Over the years, she would spend more than $50,000 on premiums. In the event of his death, Dorothy would pocket an estimated $750,000.
Last summer, after making yet another premium payment on one of the policies that was about to expire, Dorothy hit the wall. She was crispy on shelling out cash for George's demise that never came.
She decided, therefore, to speed matters up.
Dorothy approached her boyfriend with a plan. She wanted him to off George at midnight on the Fourth of July because "the fireworks and other guns would be going off" and they would muffle the sounds of the murdering gunshots.
She told her her beau she would provide him with a loaded .38-caliber gun, black shoes, pants, a shirt and three handwritten maps of George's Northland, Missouri residence.
The maps showed where George and his girlfriend would be crashed out.
"[Dorothy] Cascone also told [the man] to get to the safe and also to recover a .45-caliber weapon that was in George's residence that belonged to Cascone," court documents would later say. "Cascone told [the man] that George takes a lot of medication before going to sleep and that once asleep, he is a sound sleeper."
Dorothy wasn't messing around. Being the generous, cunning player she is, she told her boyfriend she would pay him an astounding sum of $2,000 to murder her ex -- $1,000 before the execution, the additional $1,000 after the deed had been done.
Dorothy's honey, though, would prove to be an unwilling participant. Instead of going along with the plan, he contacted the FBI.
Dorothy was soon in custody and getting grilled about her botched murder-for-hire scheme.
Earlier this year, Dorothy pleaded guilty to second-degree assault charges.
Earlier this week, she learned her prison fate: five years behind bars.
George, unfazed by his divorced bride's failed hiring-a-hit-man-to-collect-cash plan, had some post-sentencing advice for her.
