The good news is that, for anyone w/ a modicum of curiosity, they don't have to drag themselves up out of their chair to hunt down a dictionary. A few short clicks online and the "workaday readers" can actually learn something. Because, by the way, the sentence for which you express such disdain actually does make sense, if you know how to read and aren't blinded by the desire to denigrate someone.
