Dr. Ajit Jayaram Tried to Kill His Lover, His Wife & His Business Partner

Jersey City Dr. Ajit Jayaram may have sucked at the medical profession, but he's turning out to be even more inept as a criminal. Last October, he was busted for Medicaid fraud and selling prescriptions for Oxycodone. For a price, Jayaram was willing to sell the right to get high...
He was also accused of defrauding Medicaid by billing for visits that never happened, tests that were never conducted, or simply doing unnecessary procedures to run up patients' tabs.
Then the plot thickened.
During the investigation, police discovered that he was having an affair with Radha
Ramaswamy. He was afraid his wife might find out about the other woman -- and he also owed Ramaswamy $250,000. If he could make her dead, he would save himself 250 Large and keep her silence. So he hired a hitman to whack her.
Then he got the bright idea to go for the two-for-the-price-of-one discount on murder. He wanted the hitman to also kill his former business partner, pharmacist Mukhtar Ahmed.
The pair had an ongoing business beef and a long dispute over a woman.
At age 63, you just can't expect to juggle multiple affairs seamlessly.
It only got weirder after Jayaram was arrested. While in jail, he decided to hire a fellow con to whack his wife for in Murder No. 3. He was afraid that after discovering his affairs, the little missus would divorce him and take all his money.
But for all his ingenious plotting, it seems the good doctor didn't get much for his efforts. None of the three hits went off as scheduled, confirming widely held suspicions that the professional hitman circuit isn't what it used to be.
He's being held on so many felony charges you need a nuclear-powered calculator to count them. Moreover, he's in jail on a $1 million cash bond and has been ordered to have no contact with his wife.
