But on May 25, a female student noticed that Hatch's hand was moving toward her in an unnatural way. Since he's not the kind of guy over which college girls swoon, she called the cops.
It seems the creep had a camera pen that he used to take photos under student's skirts. And when police searched his computer, they found that Hatch had more than just a fetish for poorly executed photography of women's underwear.
His computer contained child porn showing hundreds of videos and images of kids in "sexually suggestive and exposed positions," according to the police report. Now it's not just charged with secret peeping; he's also facing five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
Police have yet to be able to identify any kids in the photos. (Special thanks to reader Myrtle Grubb for the tip.)

If you were in a jail cell without air conditioning for a few days in a North Carolina summer you would not look so well yourself for your mugshot. So many vain people on the internet. As someone who actually knows this man, this action and report does not reflect his total character and demeanor and this photo does not do him justice. What he did was terrible, but he is not a terrible person.

If he works for Guilford College , chances are he worked for free ( or close to it). I lived in NC for 7 years and had some of the scariest teachers you've ever seen. There is one who still routinely makes the news for "inappropriate" behavior with studenst and faculty, but like a catholic priest, they just keep bouncing from county to county.

Look, can we stop ragging on the school for hiring someone who LOOKED like this? Its a Quaker school, Quakers go out of their way toward simple living and simple appearance--its weirder for someone to be perfectly coiffed and in a suit under that line of thinking. Also, if he looked like George Clooney would that make what he did more acceptable? I went to Guilford, and despite the awful things he's done and the weird way he looks, Jon Hatch was a very intelligent and well liked professor. Everyone feels terribly betrayed by this whole mess. Please respect the school by not passing judgment on an otherwise great institution. The administration has handled this well, and he is out of a job, as he well should be.
With all due respect to your school, I still hold this man and the school accountable for his viking-like appearance.
Do we not have to right to the expectation that in an intitution of higher learning people will have some respect for others in at least being more hygenic than a construction worker or groundskeeper at a cemetary? I'm sure that the school has a dress code, as with most places where a person works indoors, and he is in multiple violations of it. We are only seeing his face.
Everyday people get on this site and say that evil alcoholics "chose" to drive drunk, junkies "chose" to neglect their children and five and ten year olds should be held accoutable for murders.
I believe that this man "chose" to drive past Hair Cuttery and not partake in the $12 haircut for two years and the school "chose" not to ask him to at least comb his hair. If his appearance reflects badly on the school, then so be it.
Shoot, he's a teacher!!! I don't remember mine ever looking like that. None of them would have pictures of my underwear anyway as I always sat with my legs crossed.

Well, looking at him, I'm not at all surprised by what he did. I mean seriously, how else was he ever going to see any girly bits? I doubt there are any women out there who would show him their 'cookie' willingly. lol

Its a school that doesn't judge on appearance. These things happen in higher education--something like it happened when I was there--but that professor was 'normal' looking so it got no media coverage and he was quietly fired. That prof had written lewd e-mails to students, and did not have "perv" all over his face. What about congressman Weiner? Does he have "perv" all over his face? What this guy did was wrong, but its really irking me that the whole school is getting judged for something as stupid as a professor's appearence.
He wasn't a new hire. He was at the school for decades and just recently thawed out by global warming.
