Marlene Bien-Aime, NYC Bus Driver, Beaten By Teen After Dog Barred From Bus

On a Tuesday evening earlier this month, Marlene Bien-Aime's MTA Bx9 bus rolled along Fordham Road and came to a stop at Cambreleng Avenue, where 17-year-old Steangeli Medina shuffled on board with her pet Chihuahua in tow. It was just before 6 p.m...
The teen, a student at Richard R. Green High School in Manhattan, cradled the pooch in her arms. Seeing the pet was not in a crate, and thus not permitted to travel according to the MTA's regs, Bien-Aime told Medina the dog wasn't allowed to board.
According to Bien-Aime, Medina then got bitter and responded: "I'm gonna hit you."
To which the bus driver replied, "It's not me, it's MTA."
Thinking the matter was over and that Medina would peacefully disembark with her pooch, Bien-Aime turned away and pointed her attention to the front of the bus. That's when Medina sucker-punched the 48-year-old transit worker with blows to the eyes and head.
Bien-Aimee struggled to unbuckle her seat belt as her attacker continued to land haymakers. Other passengers were successful in separating the two but only momentarily. Medina was determined. She broke free from the restraint of the Good Samaritans and continued punching Bien-Aime.
Medina then dragged Bien-Aime by her hair down the steps where she continued to throttle her dazed victim. The pummeling finally halted when a throng of eyewitnesses outmuscled the possessed assailant.
Bien-Aime spent that night at St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was treated for a broken nose, a badly swollen black eye and other neck and head injuries.
Medina was booked on charges of assault, menacing and harassment later that night. She was released on her own recognizance. The Chihuahua was returned to her family.
