The two began communicating, and Willard started pushing for some coital action.
Sadly, the Amish must not have heard of mothers who snoop on their little girl's cell phones. The girl's mother discovered the texts -- all 600 of them -- in addition to nude photos and videos Willard sent.
The parents called the cops, then kept communicating with Willard, pretending to be the girl. They set up a meet with him at a restaurant in Connersville, Indiana. When Willard showed up in his horse-drawn buggy, police swooped in.
Willard confessed to being a pervert; lawyering up is apparently outside Amish tradition. They're also supposed to shun technology, but most tend to blow off those rules because God really doesn't give a shit if you have a cell phone, does he?
The Yodemeister is charged with soliciting a minor for sex, possessing insufficient wheels for a respectable date, and failing to hire a legitimate barber.

Actually, I have known Willard since he was 12 years old himself. Sadly, there are numerous issues within many Amish families due to generation after generation of inbreeding. I have seen instances of serious birth defects, mental illness...depressive issues, bi-polar disorder, suicidal ideations, and Schizophrenia...they also have issues including pervasive developmental disorders, learning and social disorders. Willard has SERIOUS learning and social disabilities...he has had them for as long as I have known him. He loves baseball, but if you try to engage him in conversation about the most basic elements of the game, he cannot follow. Willard is easily "dupped" by his peers...if they dare or encourage him to go snipe hunting or cow tipping, or chase a girl for a kiss, Willard is gonna do it. He is not a bad person, he just doesn't have the capabilities to realize that his actions are inappropriate. While he should be held accountable and there should definitely be consequences for his actions, I feel a need to make it known that Willard is so mentally impaired that I sincerely doubt , even after his arrest and everything that has happened since, that he realizes the severity of what he has done or the legal ramifications he is facing. Let's keep in mind that he didn't run or even deny that he had texted the girl. He didn't deny sending pornographic pictures and videos of himself, nor did he deny that he had arranged to meet a twelve year old little girl with the intention of having sex with her. Doncha think if he realized that he had engaged in inappropriate behavior that carried serious consequences that he would have made an attempt to deny wrongdoing ? Jus' Sayin'
Moral, I don't think so. After seeing a documentary in which a young girl was being raped by her Amish brother I think it was, the community proceeded to stick up for the boy and were angry that the girl reported the crime. When they ignored it (and had all her teeth yanked out for talking), it reached outside the Amish community. The judge in the case admonished the adults for surrounding the rapist with love and care, while wishing the victim would rot in hell.
After doing research, I learned that this is not isolated. We just don't hear much about sexual abuse in the Amish community because they keep it in the community.
dude looks like he could be related to my ex-husband. even my husband noticed a resemblance between my ex and this jerk..I wouldn't be surprised if they were cousins. either at least 3rd to 8th at least.

Pedo's have been around since the dawn of man, in every culture, society and empire. It is only in the last 80 years that North american society has deemed that a 12 year old is too young to wed or have sex.
It would not be surprising that a society like the Amish or Menonites who practice this type of isolation religion would hold on to values that have been around for centuries.

I always thought the the amish were backward life no phone one room school no outside life but amish even when you get married you marry within. Glad he wa caught now maybe life in jail away from mom and dad will teach him a lesson. Will he is now a PERVERT

I live not far from an Amish community when I'm not at school and they're very progressive for the Amish. They have vans because sometimes the weather in Minnesota can be too much for the horses. The one girl I talked to said that they had one cellphone and that there was a landline as well. No tvs or computers but she said that they couldn't survive without some technology and electricity and running water. Their livelihood was dependent on selling furniture and farming so they needed a way to contact their distributors. Of course there are some sects that would consider them evil for even having this much. That's why this doesn't shock me that much, he probably had hold of the community cellphone and no one bothered to get it back, especially if there was a landline available.
I am in no way condoning his behavior, he's still a perv and needs lessons in appropriate conduct with the "English" but it's not that strange that he has access to this technology.
I wonder if the metal in the horse shoes affect the signal strength in the buggy cab. I bet he even brought his leather condom;)
It's not his fault...had he used modern technology, he would have saw one or two episodes of "To Catch a Predator with Chris Hansen" And would have been inclined not to text.
Nice bowl cut. I gave one of my kids the same haircut the one and only time I tried to cut his hair. He was 2 at the time - he was able to pull it off a bit better than dork boy above until we got it fixed.
I watched something about the Amish on the National Geographic channel last night - wow, the kids they had on where interesting to say the least - but the boys were more open to drinking, smoking, etc than the girls appeared to be. Some of the kids I saw last night didn't have running water or electricity based on the sect they belonged to so it surprises me that this turd has a cell phone.

After letting them loose on the crazy world(after being sheltered for years), then if they decide to stay in the Amish community, they have to go back to that sheltered, God fearing existence?! Yeah, I saw that, well I think it's the same one. In fact there were two different documentaries on last night about the Amish, and I think one was the one we both saw. In the one I'm talking about, some of the kids ended up hooked on crack, or meth(can't remember which), I just remember one was all paranoid that the cops were outside, he kept getting up to look, like every five minutes. Sad.
It isn't that I thought they were straight laced, I thought they didn't use modern technology like a/c and phones. I always figured they were prob more perv than most just from keeping themselves so isolated.
i can't remeber if it was MTV or some other channel, but theres like a documentry out there where they follow several Amish kids going through Rumspringa. And suprisingly there are alot of them who do go back to living an Amish life, and whats interesting is if you decide to stay on the "outside" you can always come back, but if you decide to go back and then leave again you can never comeback and your family basically disowns you (from what i gathered its a little worse than disowning)
