Victim's Mom on Why Killer Needs to Die
Katelyn Markham Missing Ohio: 22-Year-Old College Student Disappears from Townhouse
![]() |
| Katelyn was about to graduate from college next month, and she left behind her purse and her car keys |
The next morning, John sent her a good morning text. She didn't respond, but he simply assumed she was busy working at David's Bridal. But when he kept texting her that morning and she didn't respond, he knew something was wrong.
He left work to find her car still at the townhome. A check of the house found nothing amiss. Katelyn wasn't there, and the only thing apparently missing was her cell phone. Her dog was found locked in a bedroom.
No one seems to believe Katelyn would leave on her own. She and John were planning to move to Colorado in November after she graduated from school.
Moreover, she left her purse and car keys behind. But when friends and family tried to call her phone, they found it turned off. The phone's GPS device had also been turned off.
Police don't seem to know what to make of her disappearance. There were no signs of a struggle at the home. But if they have any theories on what happened to Katelyn, they're playing them close to the vest.
Katelyn's relatives believe she was abducted. Her bed appears as though it was slept in the night she went missing. They believe she answered a knock at the door while she was sleeping, only to be kidnapped.
We'll keep you posted.

Regarding the photo text...on Nancy Grace, JC made a comment the internship boss of Katelyn's being a photographer and taking the photo, that hit a nerve with me. I am hoping/assuming they questioned the boss "photographer".
I know I'm speculating wildly as I don't have the info the police do, but all I'm really doing is calling attention to anything that sticks out. Here's something kinda odd.. the bf talks about burning bank documents. Ok, he says his gf requested to get rid of old bank documents before their move. Innocent enough in normal circumstances.
Oh ya, he did this the next morning! Supposedly a text from her after he left told him to do it. Now that is odd.
which could have of course been him using her phone to text himself; theres really nothing to go on besides his word; for all anyone knows she could have been abducted/killed long before anyone suspects and the text messages were just clever concealment; for that matter she could have been killed before the first messages were sent.
Am I the only one thinking we have a serial killer in the region? Has anyone noticed the resemblance between Paige Johnson, Katelyn Makham and Lauren Spierer, Three young blondes with a similar appearance? All three have disappeared without a trace. All within the same region. These are the only three I am aware of, but there could be more. Sounds like a story from a TV crime show.
And remember Laney Gwinner? I do, I live in the area and they never found her and it is still a cold case. She disappeared one night at a bowling alley very close to where Katelyn lived. And the current case with the girl from Kentucky. All of these women are fair haired/blonde college-aged students. It's very upsetting.
there is another young blonde that was dragged from her home into the woods and they can't find her either.[and a quick search showed at least 1 from illnois ]she went missing before lauren but i cant recall the name her parents were on nancy grace a few times
U might b talking about Holly Bobo in Tennessee. I lived not to far from the town she was kidnapped from. Its really sad coz I dont think they have found any additional info about what happened to her.
These cases are so upsetting ....You pray and pray this girl will be alright only to find out the worst......I pray she is found alive and For her family .I don't understand how or why someone would do this.Pure 100% Evil Bastards make me sick!
The fiancee said he was with the dad the night she went missing but wouldn't pops come home at some point?the fiancee was on Nancy grace last night
Where's her father.. Says she lived with him.. no other mention of him talking to the media, etc.. Was he home when she came home? Did he leave to go to work at some point? Did hear a knock on the door??
Hopefully she'll show up - maybe just needing a break from all the pressure. Just this past week there was a responsible/dependable guy missing for 5 days after leaving Walmart in ND and apparently they found him *safe* but immed. took down the FB search page & all the other soc. netwk pages, no info... I've emailed but sure they're busy... this sounded so bad but worked out well (I guess??) so I hope it does for her too and not another long term missing person.
I would be focusing on the fiance, most disappearances (or murders) are done by someone close to the person. Just my opinion.
John Carter as in ER wow some one with the same name as a char on ER and i do hope thay find her safe
For some reason the dog being locked in the bedroom alarms me. Sounds like an abduction. I agree also about the father: where is he?
The dog locked in the bedroom may be a clue... shows they may have had easy control over the dog. Some familiarity. Why the bedroom. You would think a sexual predator might lock the dog in the bathroom. Did the dog make any noise? Lotta questions here.
Could be.. alot depends on the normal demeanor of the dog, and what kind of dog it is. And how it behaved with people, and with people she knew.. and so on..
I thought maybe she had been sleeping when someone knocked on her door and she locked her dog up in there on the way out to see who it was.
Not to mention, criminals/murderers have become savvy to 'texting' when they know of a loved one missing so just because she text him a pic late at night, then he was texting her all the next morning doesn't mean the bf wasn't involved. But then there's the dad...oh and yes, dog being locked in a room, that definitely reeks of foul play.
Where's the father? The article says she lived with him. Might want to look at him first.
Study Jay's avatar pic closely, we'll be seeing it in the douchbag section on this site soon enough :D
