Last December was not a good month for Oscar Lozada and his wife Sylvaine Finck Lozada. On December 3, Sylvaine called Baton Rouge, Louisiana authorities because her hubby was hurling things at her during an argument and she wanted him out of the house...

A week before Sylvaine went missing, Oscar Lozado and their daughter flew to South America. He never returned, and he hasn't been heard from since.
On New Year's Eve, police were summoned to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Sylvaine had just been admitted to the facility. She told medical personnel her husband had pushed her to the ground during yet another heated verbal exchange.

Fast forward to July, which launched a whirlwind of nefarious activity within the family.

Relatives last spoke with Sylvaine on July 5. The following day, her husband purchased several five-gallon buckets and bags of concrete. Oscar Lozada and the couple's four-year-old daughter flew to South America on July 9.

Oscar Lozada, a Venezuelan national with dual citizenship, was supposed to return to the United States with the child five days later. He's has not been heard from or seen since he boarded the outbound flight in Dallas.

In the interim, relatives tried to contact Sylvaine in the first few weeks of July. They had no luck. She was reported missing to authorities on July 18.

According to Baton Rouge authorities, physical evidence culled from the family's home supports the theory that Sylvaine is missing as the result of foul play. Citing the pending investigation, they have refused to publicly divulge specifics.

Multiple attempts by authorities to talk to Oscar Lozada have proven unsuccessful. Lozada has yet to be named a suspect in his wife's disappearance.

East Baton Rouge District Attorney Hillar Moore III has said an arrest warrant would have to issued before American authorities could request Oscar Lozada's extradition from Venezuela.

Last week, 400 people held a vigil service for the missing Brusly High School teacher.

Said Vianne Hall, a former student of Sylvaine Finck Lozada's: "She loves her family and for her to not talk to her family, you know something is wrong."
