Alicia Henderson Torments, Beats Her Elderly, Cancer-Stricken Mom to Death

Over the next two days, Charlotte was only given candy and popcorn to eat. At one point, Alicia locked her in the bathroom. She also took away the elderly woman's clothes, telling her she had to earn them back.
Alicia punched her in the face and kicked her in the back when she fell and spilled a cup of water. Over a 48 hour period, police say she beat Charlotte in the face and head 5-10 times.
During one final attack, Charlotte managed to flee the house and call 911. She was taken to a hospital, where she later died.
For reasons unknown, it would take the great state of Florida months to complete her autopsy. But last week, her death was ruled a homicide.
Despite systematically killing her own mother, Alicia's only been charged with manslaughter.

I would find it just as offensive were Michele Obama's name referenced instead of Bachman. It's not a political thing at all. They are both powerful and admirable women in their own right.

My mother died in 2003 and if she were still alive and needed my help, I'd be honored to put up with anything to take care of her.
it's a horrible story,..and all too common place,..just another sad comment on our ever eroding culture. that being said, the Michelle Bachman comment, regardless of your politics is completely inappropriate,and not funny at all.

Manslaughter? What's wrong with Florida? Being beaten 5-10 times during a 48 hour span that eventually led to the death of someone seems like premediation to me. It wasn't a one time deal, she knew what she was doing.

I don't know that what she did was premeditated, which would call for murder, as opposed to manslaughter... but I certainly hope she receives the full extent of justice.

First, obviously this is a horrible way to behave toward anyone, let alone your own mother. However, I tend to feel that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and therefore I suspect that mom was perhaps something less than a normal, nurturing, loving parent. Again, it does not excuse what daughter did, I just wonder if maybe it explains why she's such an uncaring, insensitive, abusive bitch. You learn what you live with, right?
Shade...I really don't think you are to far off with that...I always tend to assume the same thing...Still at that stage in the game..when these children have become adults themselves...it is their chance to make decisions...and if you can't handle your parent...(or child) to the point death is a possibility at the hands of these folks...there is always a better place to take them. But yeah...I often think that..and did in this case as well...I imagine if this woman is like this with lack of empathy for her own mother...she wasn't shown much empathy as a child.
Hey iLLs..Absolutely agree with you. It makes me wonder if these two didn't have knock down drag out fights all the time but maybe the mother didn't have the stamina or energy to fight back..this time..know what I mean?

Agreed. Unfortunately, most of the world seems blissfully unaware of their own foibles. Consequently, I think the daughter started out thinking she'd take care of her mom, perhaps out of a sense of duty more than love, not realizing that she herself was incapable of managing the extreme stress, time commitment, etc. that comes with caring for a chronically ill person. And if she grew up w/ a nasty mother, then she probably didn't consider any of her subsequent actions wrong! Most people, in my experience, just sort of go blindly thru life w/ the tools and skill sets they learned at home (racism, sexism, idiocy, etc. -- as bad examples), and rarely consider that there may be alternate ways of thinking and/or doing things.

My Mum had Dementia so I personally can understand the complete and utter strain and stress that family members suffer but I hope this bitch rots the rest of her life away in prison. Just as our parent needs us so badly, just when they are so vunerable, so confused they NEED those around them to treat them with patience care and loving.
I dealt with it for 5yrs with my mom... and she could be seriously mean and vicious.. now granted there were moments that even I lost my patience and wanted to beat the crap out of her, but it was at those moments I would go down to my shop and work on clay.
Damn.....about the time the poor woman got the chance to flee, she died anyway. What a POS this daughter was...If you can't handle the responsibility of caring for a parent there are other ways to furfill their needs, and provide care through a facility...She probably just wanted her moms S.S. check.
