2-year-old Indigo Mullin was at a farmer's market in Watertown, New York with his mother on Wednesday. So was Melissa Felix, who brought her American bulldog shopping with her. Indigo was apparently curious about the dog, as young boys are...

So he approached the animal from behind. The dog freaked and attacked. Before another shopper was able to pull him free, the boy was severely mauled.

He ended up requiring 100 stitches. He also suffered broken bones and severed nerves. Doctors say he'll never be the same, and it will be months before they know the true extent of his injuries.

Felix says her dog's actually a teddy bear. She has a 2-year-old daughter herself, and says the dog regularly sleeps with her.

But despite the severity of the attack, both Felix and the bulldog have been allowed to skate. She was only issued tickets. The dog, meanwhile, has been sentenced to just 10 days of quarantine at Felix's house. (Special thanks to reader Bhoebe for the tip.)
